tow bar help!

tow bar help!
hi chaps,
i am having a mare with my ST24, the tow bar should slip through the smiley hole in the bumper http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/FittingInstruction... , but the bumper is fouling hard on the two swan neck bits, the company is saying a template is available to cut the bumper but i really dont want to, short of cutting the tow bar apart and moving it i am stuck, does any one have any experince?
