Raymond Baxter has died
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/3416319.stm
He pretty much commentated on everything important that happened in the last half of the last century as well as competing in the Monte Carlo rally, flying Spits in WWII, saying the most famous words ever said about Concorde on its 1st flight and of course presenting tomorrow world.

First I've heard of it IF it's true?
And why waste the effort of posting this? It doesn't enhance the thread. Did he do something to harm you?

IF he came out, which I believe he did, isn't that of interest? What has harming ME to do with it? Was I denigrating gays at all?
Get a fekkin life, dickweed.

Bill Poster - Don't forget Alcazar has 8,504 posts and is therefore much more important than you. Therefore if he expresses an opinion or makes any kind of statement or utterance and someone challenges it he is entitled to be extremely offensive.
Most bulletin boards would kick someone off for a comment like that but due to the number of quality posts he has posted he is exempt. Please be warned in future.

It's a pity that this person had to resort to name calling, but I guess that must say something about him. I thought the schools were back.

WHEN you have SOME quality posts, come back. At the moment, all you are doing is showing the level of your own intelligence....about KS3, I'd say.

Personally I don't give a monkey's whether he was gay or straight, in or out of the closet. He was a great commentator, a skilled raconteur and a war hero to boot.
RIP Raymond Baxter

Buppa Po......you are truly exempt.
Raymond Baxter did a huge amount for my generation in inspiring a love of science and all things pertaining to the natural world. Magnus Pike was another as was David Bellamy and latterly Johny Ball.
As a child I found their programmes fascinating and never patronising. Even as a kid I remember hating the idea of children presenting TV programmes for children....what the hell could they know.
Childrens TV has unfortunately sunk to new and sometimes offensive depths....burping contests etc.
Raymond Baxter. True Class. RIP

Oh, you wanted a picture of Raymond? I thought you just wanted a none-threatening kindergarten-type picture.

I thought alcazar's 1st comment was more of an attribute rather than defametory (sp) but there you go.
RIP science to the kids (and the 1st step to challenging religion)

And me Les, shame that this has turned into a slanging match, not bothered whether Mr Baxter was gay or not, not relevant to his work, fantastic commentator, for me his voice was the same for aviation as Murray Walker is to Motor Racing but a lot more soothing.
RIP Raymond.
