Default can you copyright an e-mail address?

having seen a couple of copyright threads recently i wondered if you can copyright an e-mail address?

is there anyway of proving who registered an address and when?

You can certainly register your own domain, won't stop the spammers spoofing it though.

You can use "WHOIS" to see who registered a domain, you can find web based searche interfaces with a google!

Why can't copyright an email address any more that you can a real address.

Hardly unreasonable, though. After all, if you had gone out a few years ago and bought (for example) disney.com, .net, .co.uk, .tv etc then there would be a pretty fair case for Walt Disney Corp to take them off you. Whether you would be entitled to compensation is another matter entirely, though I'd say you shouldn't get any more than you paid out - cybersquatting is a pain in the **** and merits no reward...
