Silver Dream Racer M&M tonight (last night?)

Just watched this, and it was every bit as cheesy as I expected, but...

I remember watching this in he early eighties, and the curly haired pikey git died at the end, but not tonight. Just a still piccy of him winning.

What happened?

Directors cut?

uk dvd was the soft ending too

original ending was him crashing

I watched the film as a kid at the cinema (thanks mum for thinking about your heartthrob and not your childs amusement...lol), I thought it was silly then.

The only time I've seen it you saw him winning and the film faded .....

Think I read the book as well and I think that went out the same way - the end was him crossing the line first but then the engine giving up ...
