There's the new toshiba 68 model. The 66 model is getting good reviews and should come down in price.
There's a nice samsung, can't remember model and there's always the sony bravia for the flush.

I've got a JVC LT-40 which is a pretty good Hi-def 40" for reasonable money. Think around 1200 quid should buy one now. Sky have just fixed the HDMI bug it had and so I'd say it's in with a shout at that money. 2 HDMI sockets (most tv's still come with 1), component and all rest of the usual inputs, looks ok, in built speakers pretty good. Built in freeview tuner (if you care)

The best 40" LCD is still the Sony KDLV40; its not particularly cheap though... The S is cheaper and uses the same display panel but the difference in picture realsim is considerable. The W uses the same driver boards as the V but you pay an extra £800 for the integrated amplifier; and it isnt worth it! Someone else footed the bill for mine though.

Indeed; Zurich insurance. I had to pay the excess to Empire Commercial though and I made 'time of the essence' when they called for my card details. The bloke on the phone said "it doesnt mean anything"; but as Christmas approached and there werent any 'V' models in the country they ended up providing me with a 'W' upgrade...

I have Sony KDLV40 and its absolutely fantastic. Read all reviews on avforums.com prior to buying and definitely made the right choice in the end.
Good luck.

In my honest opinion
As an owner of a Toshiba 42" LCD and also a Toshiba 27" LCD I would buy a Plasma.
The picture quality on Sky+, terrestrial and DVD is pi$$ poor. Admittedly the picture on X-Box 360 and HD broadcasts are amazing, but that accounts for 5% of the time I use the tv.
I've seen pictures on a friend's plasma and I think I made the wrong choice going for LCD.
As most people say, LCD will show a crisper picture on HD, so maybe in a few years time an LCD would be a good buy, for now I wish I had chosen a plasma. Even considering selling my 42" Toshiba WLT58 and buying a plasma.
