EBay Item Legit??
Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me out? a girl at work is thinking of buying this car http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-VOLKSWAGE...QQcmdZViewItem
I've done a quick RAC check on the Reg AE02 UTY, which looks OK. But alarm bells are ringing!! an email from the seller states the car is in Finland and price includes shipping, but the seller's location is USA. The deal looks to good to be true, which it probably is! I don't want the girl to get stung, what do you think?
Cheers

Looks like a hijacked account, don't go anywhere near it. 'Ask the seller a question' this should go to the correct ebay users email and ask them if its legit. You are right to be wary. Parkers poor price for this is £6.5k so if it looks to good to be true chances are its a scam.

All it says on there at the mo is that its in Notts. And it has UK plates on it etc.
I always use the rule that if alarm bells are ringing leave well alone, but on this occasion it looks ok to me. If its not too far from you e mail the guy and have a look at it.

Not a chance buddy stay well clear.
No wonder he has bypassed the ''ask seller a question'' link as it is a hijacked ebay account.
The feedback may look good but it is someone elses feedback.
Seeing as the car is not in the UK, i think that pretty much solves it! It has british number plates for a start in the pics so how can it be in finland!
The check you did on the car will be okay, as it will be more than likely sitting on someone's drive right now! He's probably stolen the pics from a previous ebay auction or autotrader.
Report it to ebay

don't you think it's also strange that the seller has put in a different email address too? I'm sure it'll only take 2 minutes to check his spam mail and look for 'question from ebay member'
i mean this guy could be genuine... see if you can view the car... but DON'T go alone. there's been an incident recently where a young lad went with his mother ( who bought the car for him as a graduation present) and another family member... they went to pick up the car and on arrival, they were met by numerous blokes who held the family @ knifepoint and demanded the cash for the car and also made his mother hand over other belongings ( think it was credit card and mobile phone).

Seen loads of these cons lately with obviously well underpriced cars and asking not to 'ask the seller a question'. Or another one is that you have to be a pre-approved bidder to bid etc.
