Default Use of racist terms for people from Pakistan

Quite apart from any scoobynet related policy is this acceptable? I think not.

Use of racist terms for people from Pakistan

I don't think it's acceptable to use the contraction to describe people like this as it's usually coming from a racist perspective rather than to clarify their geographic origin.

That being the case I'd ask you to consider the possible ramifications of such public, documented racism.

Its the way people use the word "Paki". Its used in an offensive way which is where the problems lie.

Precisely. It isn't acceptable and I plan to make sure something is done about it.

Something is only offensive if the reciever of the language thinks its offensive to that person, who are you to judge whether someone else finds it offensive or whether someone has said it in an offensive matter.

Its only because you've been brought up calling little brown kids pakis.... (same here but people grow up )

I'd rely on the people publishing such racism to take the action.

I don't mind being called a honky, Brit, Little Englander, whingeing pom or anything else in a similar vein.

Far more important issues to worry about. Let the Pakistanis make an issue of it if it's so urgent. Get on with your life.

He doesnt have a life, thats why hes always poking his nose in other peoples business. I mean, watching people, making a decision on the type of person they are then starting a conversation to see if hes right is about the most pathetic thing Ive ever heard.

Oh no, hang on, bragging about it and him being 80% right with his predictions probably tops it.

So if you call me an Aussie, do you believe that's racist? The trouble with your attitude is that it's this corrosive political correctness, which is formulated by people with nothing better to do aka **** Blue Rinse Brigade/Liberal Tree Huggers etc.

Don't you have anything more important to think about?

My mate Shak's view is that Paki is a term used to describe shopkeepers and more blue-collar workers.

He is trying to introduce the term "Stani" to describe Indians and Pakistanis in professional white-collar professions.

As manipulating people and ideas is my business these days it's a great way of keeping in practice. However if you think sitting in the bar by yourself and playing with your laptop is a better way to kill airport time rather than talking to people from around the globe that's great.
Nice thread cross pollination BTW.

What's more important than a debate on racism and what's acceptable?

A discussion on reality TV shows or fizzy alcoholic drinks?

I don't think it would be fair to introduce a single term to describe both as in my experience they are like chalk and cheese.

Either:

a) You aren't very good at manipulating because people will obviously backlash and go out of their way to use the word 'Paki' just to p1ss you off.

or

b) You anticipated this and it was your intention to incite racial hatred on scoobynet.

So which are you? Wannabe manipulator or racist scum?

There is something about your crusade against racism that just doesn't ring true, so for the time being my money is on racist scum. Welcome to the fold white brother
