Question Food budgets......

Just watching the One Show on BBC. Made interesting viewing regarding the amount of money the state pension awards you per day. About £8..... about £56 per week.

So I started to expand on this train of thought - food budgets per week.

How much do you lot spend for ALL your food per week?

Could the responses include the amount of people per household.

I will put mine in, but I'd like to see what the general vibe is beforehand

Should be interesting (well, to me anyway!)

Around £30 per week which includes £20 at Tesco and the other £10 on bread/milk and sandwiches at work.

That's for just me.

Bl00dy hell!

There's four of us (2 x kids 3 & 6 yrs old) + labrador & Spaniel.

We spend for EVERYTHING between £50 - £60 per week. That's with a full shopping trolley at Morrisons

Probably £50+ per week for 1 person, though I do know how to economise and can live on £10 per week if I really try.

I spend silly money each week until I put my sensible head on

I can live very cheaply if I plan my meals. It's all the junk stuff that puts my grocery bill up............ plus the alcohol

When I shopped for the family I always had to have my sensible head on..and we all ate extremely healthily (sp) Probably the equivalent of £90 weekly for me and 3 kids. (It was a long time ago so I've done the figures accordingly). I read somewhere that in the 60's people spent a quarter of their wages/salary on food but it's dropped now to something like 18%

Strangely enough, my kids now do the sensible healthy eating too...except when they're drunk and a take-away is more appealing

Wife does a sensilbe shop online, then I do a 40 quid recreational Friday night Sainsbury's shop. The household budget Spreadsheet has 500 quid allocated for shopping for the month, never really check it though, got used to shopping at Aldi and Iceland a few years back when I was on crap money, could do it very cheap but it was painful, can see why the poor have such bad diets as they just go for cheap carbs and leave the fruit and veg alone, never again, Asda is as low as I will go.

Reminds me of a portly mate at a stag do archery competition, someone remarked on his archery prowess so I said 'Yeah everything he eats, he kills himself' to which the lad replied, 'he must kill a f*ck of a lot'

Our household budget for food (home food anyway) is based around £200 - £240...... £40 for additional extras. Which is a rarity.

Given a choice, we'll always shop at Morrisons or Tescos....

2/ Eat a lot of Caviar
3/ Have 20 kids
4/ Several large Rottweilers fed on steak
5/ Very fat ?
6/ Combine your Crack budget into the weekly shop
7/ Run a cafe ?

Ah, spotted the month bit but posting it anyway !
