Default Road Deaths in Northants

Being a Northants resident myself I often see Speed Camera vans, gatso's, Biker Cops with lasers around nearly every corner whilst driving around. Interesting to see that they have had absolutely no impact on reducing road deaths this year compared to 2005

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/n...re/5240240.stm

Whilst walking thru Corby last friday a man gets stabbed to death at 2pm in the town centre.

Priorities...............

Doesnt that contradict the speed kills statements ?

Implying that 52% of fatal collisions happened when the driver/rider did nothing wrong at all.

About 99% of fatel collisions are caused by driver/rider error.

But then 'safety' cameras aren't usually located at acident black spots, certainly the camera van only gets parked where they're guaranteed to generate revenue.

Doesn't prove that at all, merely that road deaths havent dropped across the county. Those cameras could have saved many lives since being put up by reducing the accidents in specific blackspots or by simply making d1ckheads who speed slow down a bit. You, nor the police, nor I can prove or dispute that either...

I am still amazed at how people look for stats to support speed camera removal when all they are trying to do is reduce accidents and prosecute people who deliberately break the law or are too incompetent to drive within the speed limits Its the deliberate law breakers and incompetents who will probably be the main causes of accidents in the first place...

The worrying thing at the moment is that the PC Plonkers are now plotting to set 40 mph limits on all rural roads!

Unfortunately speed cameras cannot do anything to stop incompetants that cannot drive within the speed limits as they only catch people exceeding them !

Someone doing 59mph in a 60 can still kill you or themselves ! Speed cameras wont stop that !

Priorities look about right then.....chance of getting stabbed = very remote, chance of getting killed on the roads = less remote.

Same story in Essex a couple of years ago, road deaths up 24% despite massive numbers of cameras.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/3365201.stm

Basically in Colchester you have to drive carefully through the outskirts of town on big wide roads at 30mph where the cameras are, then you treat the town centre like a grand prix track as there are no cameras or police!

Trying to be objective - if road deaths have stayed the same while road traffic has risen maybe they are doing some good? Still, that doesn'r stop t@#$s doing handbrake turns in carparks while I'm pushing the kids along in the buggy etc.

its because the government is not making money out of someone getting stabbed they do out of catching people speeding. In bulgaria they have gatsos attatched to the bonnet of a police car and then the police man runs into the middle of the road with a little baton with stop on it to make you stop lmao i've nearly ran him over once but he just said slow down no ticket or nothing. just shows our govenment up things like this where they think of ways to make more money out of peope
