Are you saying this is vaguely possible? (I suppose all on touchscreen means the buttons generate themselves, for example?)
For example I bought an old MIO unit for £80, spent £25 on a 1GB card for it and put a TOMTOM full europe maps on it (cost zero ) so full european navigation for just over a hundred quid.
I can also play quake on it and other PDA type stuff.

Cheers Rabid, I've got it on my P910 but wondered if "unit" meant some special satnav box rather than a general PDA thing.
Would still love it if the car industry moved towards my suggestion though

Cool fellas. That precisely the sort of info this thread was asking for now wasn't it.
Not annoyed but if you have a Tom Tom 910 i'd like to hear from you.
Thanks
Esh

So just to clarify - ESH is asking about the new TomTom 910
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...016&doy=search
rather than TomTom software available on the P910.
I blame TomTom

I had a Tom Tom 910, but took it back this week, the software works well as per all other versions of Tom Tom, the hands free kit is good quality too!
BUT my main issue with it, was the windscreen cradle, it was not very good at charging the unit.
I spoke to Tom Tom support, and they did mention that there was an issue with an early batch of them, but I had lost my confidence in it by then...

Cheers guys and sorry for the rant but as I'd be spending £425.00 on this tech I wanted to see what your opinions were of ownership.
Ian: I'd read about the cradle issue and hope that it has been recitified of indedd my one will go back.
KIWI GTI bought a Mio C510 for £235.00 and it seems to offer the same functionality bar the bigger memory.
I've gone and bought one now.
Regards
Esh

There have been loads of problems with the new series of TomTom and they have lost a lot of customers to other brands.
The 910 has the following problems :
-Built-in hard-drive is vibrated too much causing loads of operational problems.
-The mounting (ball and socket joint) is too weak and not enough to hold the unit.
-They have been crashing often (510 included)
The 710 has repeatedly been delayed by Tomtom and there are obviously problems with this too.
Other than that the software looks OK and the screens are very nice, but they are expensive.
There is a comprehensive review of all the newer GPS units by a French magazine (Tomtom ,Navman, Mio, Garmin, Acer, ViaMichelin etc) and the Mio 510E got the editors choice. Translate them at Google

Mio 510E
Tomtom 910
No contest for me, the Mio looks better, maps are the best I've seen on a GPS, it's half the price of the Tomtom, still has bluetooth, virtually the same coverage as they both use TeleAtlas maps.
If you aren't convinced just ring around a few dealers that sell both.
