Default MACED MYSELF.....

I'm leaving my wife alone in Texas (albeit with two male Rottweilers) for a few weeks today, so thought I would test her can of mace. It says on the bottle that it should be sprayed every three months to ensure proper performance.

It's only a diddy little handbag can, so gave a few quick sprays in the back garden and quite impressive. So decided to have my wife stand in the kitchen, and I sprayed it onto the kitchen window. From five feet away it covered about ten square inches of the window in big splodges! Very impressed!

Sadly, either some bounced back or caught a breeze and I got a good whiff of it! This was about five hours ago and am still feeling a bit sick, with a heavy chest, running nose, and sore tickly throat, from the tiniest dose, so would hate a full on load!!!

I shalln't bother testing the large, crowd control type bottle of mace mixed with tear gas we have upstairs, nor the 500,000 volt stun gun in the closet!

Pepperspray/CS gas/Mace - I think it's all the same stuff.

Mace sounds nastiest though, thats probably the stuff to have.

Ah, fear not, I live in Texas, currently, where it is positively encouraged for you to own a short barrell, wide spraying shotgun for home security, and they start as low as $79 at Walmart!

We've gone for the less lethal route, although the bigger they get, my dogs could potentially be lethal!

The little handbag mace is a pepper spray mix. The larger can of mace we have is mace mixed with tear gas and UV dye for identification.

The stun gun is pretty mental, a very wide electricified arc, and will put most people down in under a second, with pretty much complete loss of bowel and muscle control after 5 - 7 seconds!

My wife's boss has three shotguns in his house, four revolvers and a 9mm pistol, plus makes his own ammo, and that's pretty "normal!"

Still coughing BTW!

2000TLondon,

You sound a like a regular American nutter! – yeehaw!!

So what is the difference between CS/Pepper spray and Mace ?? – is it the same stuff? Mace mixed with tear gas !! WTF is that all about.

Your stun-gun sounds a bit OTT – loss of bowel control?? Jesus! I’ve been on the end of a 30kV stun-gun, that instantly made my arm spasm like a crazy raver, I never shat myself though.

Be safe with your ‘toys’

I got caught with pepper spray once (wrong time, wrong place) Paramedics told me to close my eyes when I took off my Tshirt and put it inside out in the wash. Having drunk a few pints of Green Eyes I forgot, whoops, Tshirt of pepper spray straight in the eyes, coughing my guts up for 2 days!

Wouldn't like it full force

My gf's dad in Ontario has a pump action shotgun (which he calls a streetsweeper, because it can clear the street of trash), 4 large calibre hunting rifles and several handguns, including a .357 magnum.

I would strongly recommend not trying to burgle him. Nor p1ss around with his daughter. That reminds me, must phone the gf...

It's worthing pointing out that quite a high proportion of people are unaffected by CS. Had to do a spell in the "confidence chamber" respirator off, give name, rank and number then answer a couple of questions before exiting. It's not something I'd like to be doing on a daily basis, but CS isn't as bad a many people make out.

A small container of ground white pepper should do the trick over here-not illegal like Mace either.

me and my old boss found a can of some kind of pepper/cs gas spray in a car we were cleaning when i was about 17/18 complete with swastika design on the front and German text on the back

there was a story in the paper at the time on how some crack commando bloke had went nuts, and started wearing women's clothes, at court (i think) it took around 8 orrificers with spray to bring him down, he was trained in chemical warfare and the paper tells the story, that the bloke could handle it

anyway, my boss says something along the lines of "if a ****** in a dress can handle it, so can we"

and with that, the challenge was set, i gave myself a quick blast in the face and tried to look hard

within 3 mins i was outside on my knees

That depends: if the container is an open one and you just throw the contents at someone, that is correct (ignoring the real possibility of an assault charge if you can't prove self defence). If however, the pepper is sprayed in any way, moved forced out by compressed air (even slightly compressed), etc, then it's a section five firearm, just like Mace and CS.

Are you saying if I hold pepper with the intent of blowing (with my mouth) it at someone, then I’m effectively in possession of a firearm ??

Mace is a brand name but its teat gas. Tear gas is a weaker form of CS gas. Pepper spray can be far far more effective, although it depends on brand.
