Its a known problem with the 8800, and part of the reason I didn't get one.

IIRC Nokia supplied the phone with two batteries so you could keep one charged !

No extended life battery option as far as I'm aware - its the price you pay for style.

The standard Nokia battery is 600mAh, this one is 1000mAh - might help ?

I have an 8800 and at home get 1 bar of signal on the phone and it is typically on for 16 hours a day. I make approximately 15 minutes of calls a day and the odd text and find the battery lasts a good 3 days.

I found the battery life shockingly short when brand new but after 2 to 3 complete fully charged to fully discharged cycles I found the battery conditioned itself. I get the same performance from both batterys.

The only slight problem I have is that the earpiece volume does'nt go loud enough and the key pad tone sound is almost silent on its highest level!!
