User rating System???
I have noticed a sharp increase in the number of Trolls popping up on Scoobynet lately.
Whilst I just ignore them I think they could well put new people off the site seeing all these petty arguments and people posting in topics they have no interest in just trying to get a reaction...
Could we not have some sort of Star rating for users similar to Xbox Live’s system so you can see at a glance weather a user is someone who contributes to threads or is just amusing themselves by causing arguments..?

The problem with the rating system is it's open to abuse, so you could, for a laugh, give someone a "bad" rating.
A warn level system, as used by other BBS systems, where a mod can "warn" a user, might be better. I *think* this warn level is shown to other users, or maybe it's just the user themselves and mods, regardless, it let's the user know where they stand and how close to getting their posting rights revoked they are.
I doubt very much anything will actually happen about the trolls, maybe people are complaining enough directly and via the "report bad post" system?
I know there is the "ignore user" option, which is used, however, I don't think we should have to use that option just to screen out trolls who could be dealt with by having their posting rights removed.

What do you mean by wannabe's?
People who want to own scoobs or people who own scoobs and want to be trolls?
I don't mind people who don't own scoobs being on here (as if I have a right to) as they are here because they either;
1) love the image and the car and maybe one day aspire to owning one,
or
2) hate them and are here to flame us all for owning them.
Either way it makes no difference to me. Trolling does tho. Some people come on here to ask for advice about things that could be quite sensitive occasionally and the trolls can be very harsh, just to get a reaction. No need for it IMHO.

The thing with trolls, the more attention you give, the more they will do it, it's in human nature to react once we get a reaction. If we keep getting a reaction, we will continue to react to that reaction.

I don’t even own a Scoob anymore anyway, i just like the site, 'most' people on here have interesting things to say and offer advice on stuff when needed, don’t care what they drive!
Think some people have just observed trolls that have been around for a while and though they want a bit of it.
Some have a thousand or so posts in a couple of months, 99% of which is gibberish!
Think if everyone has one 'vote' per user, it should stop any abuse of the system...
Maybe something along the lines of people with a 1 star rating can only post 5 times in a day, something like that...

I used to want a scoob, and intended to buy one, no longer fall into either of those categories though, just come on occasionally to post or read threads of interest.
I don't think the system would work as people who make an interesting contribution to a board often annoy a number of people and as always if your annoyed by someone you're much more likely to rate them.
A good example is myself, I don't post a lot so most won't know me, I won't register on peoples minds for that reason, therefore I would receive very little rating. However if I made one post that annoyed say 20 people (not a large cross section of the board) they would all rate me an idiot, therefore I would achieve an idiot rating for one post when I have made numerous reasonable ones.
The answer is judge for yourself, don't get wound up by people who post drivel and if you're the type to get wound up reading a bbs (you'll know if you are) then use the ignore function.

Which is why i havent named names, would only feed their rather strange, delicate ego's!
I just ignore them, trouble is new members might not know the score!

Most (if not all) of the Trolls have been here longer than me - and that's over 5 years.
