Labour Carbon Cap on Private Households

Labour Carbon Cap on Private Households
Read this of yet another crazy NL plan.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.../ixuknews.html
How the hell do they suppose that this will work? Will they make allowances for the particular weather conditions where you live? Like hell they will.
We will all end up paying more for less. And freezing in winter to boot.

Carbon emmisions, what a load of old crap, all that fannying about with meters, sorting our rubbish into several different compartments, then a bloody 737 screams overhead carying a load of people paying 2.99 each to go to London or 5.99 to go to their place in Malaga belching out more Carbon than anything, repeat 30 times an hour for 18 hours and see how much Carbon is produced compared to heating a moderate house. The air travel thing is not sustainable and we now are relying on it, does make you wonder what they will run an A380 on when the oil runs out, thats a lot of biodiesel !
Dont know why the government still bother letting us have wages whilst they keep taking it back in one form or another.
Build the Nuclear plants, throw up some turbines so we dont have to rely on unstable Middle Easter regions or greedy Russians/Easters Europeans who keep sticking the gas price up.
I still dont understand how we get bombarded with energy all day yet still have to rely on dragging oil, gas and coal out of the ground, its windy every day, the tides flow every day, we get hit by sun every day (bit dicey the last one), the enrgy demands arent going to go away so why not use the last of the fossil stuff to ensure that we have enough energy in the future by building more renewables, I suspect its the path of least resistance here, its jus easier to drag oil out of the ground and burn that rather than putting any effort into harnessing other sources.
Its funny how people get all sniffy about wind farms ruining the countryside, turn off the power for a few days, no Emmerdale, Corrie and Eastenders and they would be out their knocking their own up !

J4CKO,
The problem is the Nuclear and renewable techology is very expensive, windfarms and tidal systems especially can be environmentally damaging.
So either the Government pays for it and we increase taxes or the private sector pays for it and we get increased fuel bills.
Either way isn't pleasant but as technology improves the prices should come down but that is perhaps decades away.
Cheers

I wonder how much methane you could extract from a family sized septic tank?
I also wonder how easy it is to make solar-electric cells as roof tiles (I know companies are already doing this, but considering for is a bit of glass and silicone which eminates from sand, its currently far to overpriced for a simplistic technology). Obviously the need for a battery bank of at least large lead/acid batteries would be equally as harmful to the environment. The alternative of letting energy suppliers to buy back any generated energy currently looks like a rip off.

Just been looking into the pros and cons of using a company car. The tax is all calculated on CO2 emmissions now. Bloody complex. Don't think I'll bother. A nice new car to drive around in would be though.
