We both wanted kids but didn't decide on how long we would wait after we got married before having them. Thought we would start trying thinking it could take a while anyway but I became pregnant with my son after a couple of months. Same when I had my daughter 3 years later. Decided then that two was more than enough and felt content that I had one of each. I have absolutely no inclination to have anymore now though and I'm glad they are 12 and 9 and well past the baby stage.

We decided, one Christmas, how nice it would be to have kids. The February, I was up the spout
I wouldn't be without them. Fantastic
Saying that, the second one was a result of too much red wine

First three were planned. However, as posted in another thread.
The last one:
It happened near the end of a very fiery relationship after i'd moved out. We carried on seeing each other because we still cared a hell of a lot for one another. She thought being pregnant was going to keep us together when all we did (apart from the obvious) was argue.
Unfortunately we now live about 100 miles apart and she's not a very nice person to try and reason with. I haven't seen my son (now 2 and a half years old) for over a year and i'm never likely to.

If your relationship's ever falling to pieces and your missus is a bit of a nutter then be careful .

LOL

We had some friends of ours over from abroad and although it was lovely to see them, it was hard work, we were both working and they weren't helpful to say the least around the house.

They went home and the next morning we had a lie in and the rest is history.

Totally unplanned but one of the best things that has happened to me

We haven't told them

we both wanted kids but there was an awful lot of genetic issues to deal with.
So when our first born (and subsequent second) was born healthy, they are our most treasured possessions.

cant believe no-one has answered the question yet?
the man put his thingy inside the woman's thingy and jiggled about and then 9 months later you popped out son !!

Me and my ex-missus started quite soon after getting married, a little bit soon for my liking as i wanted to do more practising first but she had other ideas and blimey did she try !!! it was all fun, but got a little bit clinical at times, as i felt like I was just the "tool" so to speak and as an indication how desperate she was, she would do handstands afterwards !!!!
anyway we had a fantastic baby boy, the first, who is now 6 next week.
second one was a bit unplanned, but it was in the midst of a bit of an unsettled relationship.
Was chuffed to bits when he arrived, yup another boy (now 3) but the upshot is we are now divorced, but that has nothing to do with the question i guess.

know of friends who tried for ages and are still trying, and know of people who got pregnant at just the thought of it.

I suppose that comes back to men trusting the women they love, to be honest and when she says she is taking the Pill for it to be true, if they later find out she wasnt because she wanted a child and you didnt is the mistake your fault or should all of us in relationships not trust and believe our women?

Also in a long term relationship if you start wearing a condomn she starts asking why and if you are putting it about?

And so I come back to my statement posted in the other topic - contraception is BOTH of the consenting adults' responsibility.

This sort of thing hits a raw nerve because the blas'e attitudes that surround sex and the resulting "products"...... my wife and I lived with some pretty daunting decisions that would have had to be made in the event of pregnancy.

To see that "caveman" attitude of "it's the woman's problem" really gets on my pecks

Comes back to that statement, of how ironic that you need a license to drive a car, watch TV, Fish etc, but anybody can have kids

Just reading back all of my comments, I can see that I may be perceived at taking the moral high ground.

Yes. I am. There are few things in this world that I do have a vehement opinion on, and this is one of them. Whether you agree or not!!

Sorry Dan but i think you're wrong.
Of course contraception is the responsibility of both adults but when you've been in a relationship for 4 years and your partner has been taking the contraceptive pill over that time are you seriously suggesting that the bloke should wear a condom every time they have sex.
F'y'i' I don't have a "blase" or "caveman" attitude towards sex and the resulting "products"(as you so caringly put it.) It seems to me you're stereotyping me as the "alternative" type of Subaru driver.
As stated before in another thread. If you get in your car and put your seatbelt on before a drive, you don't wear a crash helmet too. I'd be very surprised if many on here wear a condom if their long term partner takes the pill.
I'd been in the relationship for four years and wasn't just some bloke going around ******** anything in a skirt so (as any normal bloke would do) i assumed that my ex was still taking the pill.
It was an utter and complete betrayal of the trust between us that has resulted in the situation being as it is now.
I don't know your personal circumstances and wouldn't want to assume anything but are you 100% certain your missus/wife/partner wouldn't stop taking the pill and get pregnant just to have a/nother kid or in my case to despairingly try and hold a relationship together.
In your view:
If you aren't certain then you should wear a condom every time when you have sex with her.
If you are certain then you should wear a condom every time when you have sex with her.
I hope you do in either case. But i'd bet that over 90% of those who state they do are lying.
Re your "license" comment and the "rolleyes" emoticon: I realise that's just the "taking the moral highground" coming out but you shouldn't really trivialise what was quite a good but ill informed post with something you've probably heard on "Trisha".

Fantastic!Very happy for you!

Surprising your partner is good when you know that partner will be over the moon to listen to the news.No point getting pregnant by someone you are not sure about or,if he is not ready/not in favour of having kids.It can't reflect well on child's psychology in future.Sooner or later when he realises that he was not wanted so much by one of the parties,it will hurt him.No point in mother going through physical trouble of delivering baby either.

My both children were most welcomed into this world by us and they are most important to us.They were pleasant surprises, not planned at all.I can't call them possessions anymore as,they are teenagers and, they own themselves
