Can anyone explain why my nvidia TNT Ultra AGP card works fine in Win98, but if try and run it either under 2000 or XP it can't start, just gives an error (10) saying that the driver can't start.

Creative tech support haven't come up with anything, and I'm a bit stumped!

Under win98 it identifies it as a standard VGA card, then I update the driver to the latest ones and all is well.

Under w2k and XP it identifies it correctly as nvidia from install, however has the famous yellow ! and I can't get it to start at all, I've tried latest Creative drivers that support both XP and W2k and also Nvidia drivers.

HELP!!

Did you upgrade from 98 to XP or was it a totally clean install? Have you tried a clean install?

You might also want to ask the same question on
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/index.php

The guys on there know their stuff and can point you to the right drivers.

BTW, I upgraded my machine to XP and my Norton Antivirus stopped working, I then tried to enable Internet connection sharing and my firewall got disabled, so I blew it all away until I have time to sort it out properly.

My TNTultra works fine in Win2000SP1 using windows drivers no problem. Set up a dual boot system, Win98 & Win2K/XP as theres still alot of incompatibility with win98/Y2K software.

Always disable Antivirus software when installing new software. It causes install/uninstall prog not to work completely. You'll have to go thru the registry to clear entries.

Greg,

Bit of a long shot, not sure it can be done etc. but I seem to remember reading a PC mag article about early nVidia chipset cards. It said something along the lines of installing the card as a standard VGA card (even if it thought it recognised it) and then rebooting. After that, you could then go ahead and install the nVidia drivers. Or something.

No idea if that would work in your case.

Cheers
