Why do you never see these anymore??...
HEDGEHOGS
Is it just me or do you never see hedgehogs anymore? Used to see loads of them around where i live but not anymore. You dont see them as road kills now either ( which is a good thing
)
Anyone else thought this or even bothered for that matter??

They are probably killed by cats.
Cats kill a huge amount of wildlife- animals and birds, so hedgehogs are probably less common in areas near housing because of it.
Pity cos theyre quite cool little creatures!

I drove round one last night while it was ambling across the road (or attempting suicide - I'm not sure which).
Also, we had one hibernate down the side of our garage last winter.

Last year there were two that would appear now and again in my parents back garden, it though that there was just one but then I seen the two if them one night whilst out star gazing. I haven't seen any this year though, maybe they're still sleeping.

We had one in the back garden when we first moved in. We had to block up the hole he got through just incase he got into the cat run and the boys got him

Smashing little creatures But less around I fear. Mustn't give them cow's milk or bread but tinned cat/dog food* + water is fine.

see them all the time, there are quite a high number of them and rabbits opposite my house in the big field

We have 2 in our garden - all our cat does is sit and stare at them on occasion! 
They burried themselves under piles of leaves in the autumn and hibernated through the winter - aaaawwwwwww

There are a couple of the high-speed bootcleaners that trundle through my garden just after dusk each evening. If they help combat the destruction of my plants, by eating slugs, then they're more than welcome.

There's lots round here - they've always been one of my favourite animals, there's just something funny about them. We often move them off roads when we're out walking about. I've found that there's a real knack to picking them up without badly prickling your fingers!
I always have an uncomfortable suspicion that some people deliberately run them over - you often see them squashed in places where they could easily have been avoided, or where they're not on the natural driving line of the road and wouldn't have been hit accidentally (I'm not talking about dark country roads here - I accept there's not a lot you can do if you come upon one in that situation).

we have one in our garden who regulary comes through most nights. doesnt seem bothered by the cat as being spiky and fairly chunky things theres not a lot the cat can do to the hedgehog.

You can just see it now a cat wearing riggers gloves just to catch a hedgehog
Have you ever tried picking up a hedgehog it fecking hurts so a cat stands no chance of catching one
unles it wearing welding gloves,we have one in our garden every night and our cats just look at the thing, try blaming all the fcukwit drivers that aim towards a hedgehog in the road for something to do FFS Do just blame cats for killing the wildlife what about vehicles FFS how many birds, badgers, rabits etc do you see on the side of the road????

The clue was in the name hedgehog but sadly its not just developers, its also farmers who have destroyed thousands of miles of hedgerows over the years... in order to grow more crops, to generate more revenue to compensate for the controls that supermarkets have on them to deliver cheaper prices to keep consumers happy.
So its our fault
