Default What does 'CH' stand for when relating to Switzerland

I have always wondered why. I know not all abbreviations translate exactly.

Switzerland is also known as "Confoederatio Helvetica", therefore the abbreviation CH. "Confoederatio" stands for "confederation", "Helvetica" derives from the Latin word "Helvetier", the name of the people who lived in the area which became later Switzerland.

Your all wrong.
I lived there for seven long years and "CH" stands for "CheeseHead", which is something you'll find an awful lot of in those parts. Just don't call them Buenzlis though
