Buy a package holiday and ditch the accomodation?
Im trying to find a flight to Turkey in late July and of course the prices are stoopid cos of school holidays. I have however found the package deals (ie hotel and flight) cheaper than flight alone so Im thinking of booking the package but not using the accomodation (I already have that for free).
I wouldnt have thought they'd be any comeback - as long as I just tell the rep at the airport, but want to be doubly sure before I book.
Has anyone else done this?

Yes. I went to India with a package deal but had other accomodation. I simply told the hotel that I would be travelling and probably wouldn't use the accomodation. There was no problem at all. I just made sure I came back to the hotel to collect "stuff" from my room and was transferred to the airport with the other residents It worked perfectly

Done it many a time - use it as a luggage storage mate whilst you explore further away from the crowds.
These days however the holiday Co's sell off the spare seats on their chartered aircraft - missus got a blinder of £300 to Cuba a couple of years ago FOR TWO!
