Default Holiday in Turkey - Euro's or Lira

Going to Turkey on Sunday and was all set on taking New Lira but ive read a few conflicting stories about what is the best currency to take? With some saying everything is priced up in Euros so take Euros.

Anyone been recently, staying near Antalya if that makes any difference.

Cheers

Mark

Most places will take both currencies but the €uro is preferred as they can generally shaft you on the exchange rate. I'd take their mickey mouse money if I were you.

Just got back mate and Lira is preferable. Some places will also take USD/Sterling.

Also there is no minimum transaction level on Credit Cards in Turkey - so you can use your Amex to pay for a single coffee ......

Went to Antalya last year.
Euros, Old Lire, New Lire all ok.
Things work out a little cheaper in Lire.
Expect to be mistaken for Germans a lot - very popular area for them!
Don't bother taking cash, just use the ATMs whenever you need more.
