Pain in the gum!!
Diclofenac taken + Beechams and a couple of Ibrofen - 3 pints and the match should be watchable ................. or, will I be asleep??
Dental Pain .... it's the worst!!
Watching my wife give birth was childs play compared to this!

mart, you are only a youngish bloke, I assume, off some of the hints you have given. I'd love to know why you opted to have all your teeth out. Any chance of an answer

Tooth pain is no joke, there's nothing worse.
I had a double abscess last year, I really thought after 5 days and numerous botched attempts to cure it that suicide was the only way to go.
After spending £100's and taking numerous types of antibiotics it eventually cleared up and I had the ****er pulled.

Don't tell me you've had all your teeth removed too UB, mind saying that, it would explain why it would take an age to gnaw your way through a pair of jeans

No probs,
a multitude of reasons...
the first and prolly the biggest and most identifiable
fear of dentists... after encountering the school butcher, dentists that hit me, and lied to me, it got to the stage where i would endure the pain untill i could either bear it no more, or would see a gp rather than a dentist to obtain antibio,s. Unfortunatly ive suffered with slightly soft teeth, and as a result they have never been 100% so it wasnt the best playing field to start with.
second
smacked in the face with an ice hockey puck whilst trying to be cool playing hockey without a face mask, didnt do a great deal for what molars i had left By this stage i still had dentisits trying to tell me i,d be better off keeping my teeth, erm no... i knew then they had to go..
so by chance i found a very sympathetic dentist who actually listened to what i wanted rather than telling be what they they wanted (under the guise of them knowing best)
i had the tops done in the mid 80,s, along with some worl on the lowers. all was well for several years, then I moved , and as a result had to find a new dentist, and once again the, "oh we reccomend a visit to the hygenist, and they would insist on using the pick on every tooth i had left, despite me telling them not to.
so once again the fear that i had managed to hold back, was starting to resurface, so then i used every ruse i knew to avoid going. then as nhs dentists started to decline it got worse, until early 2005 when i got another abcess, after an emergency visit to the local hospitals dental unit, i got a scirp, and realised i had to do something about what teeth i had left (11)
given that i had had no probs with the uppers since removed, i realised that going the same way with the lowers was the only way to go.
Yet despite a patient having a clear idea of what they wanted, it was nigh on impossible to get a dentist to support me.
i rang one nhs dentist who agreed to see me, and then the receptionist decided that what i wanted wasnt in there best interests.
she told me it would be an initial consult, then they would agree a course of treatment. I informed her the only treatment i wanted was a total lower clearance. She informed me they wouldnt do that. (nice to see they take a patients wishes into account)
anyway my wifes dentist agreed to see me. She reckoned that she could do some extensive work on the lowers, but by this time my mind was made up. and she referred me to the local hospital for extraction under general anesthetic. (couldnt even sit in the chair for an exam, let alone any work)
so there all out now, i dont regret it. i can eat almost anything (hot liquids do catch me out occasionally (stainless steel conducts heat rapidly )
other than that youd never know i dont have my original teeth.

Thanks for your honesty Mart
Good for you. I have all my teeth and want to keep them, even tho' on antibiotics as the mo'.
No problem with the tooth, the infection is coming from my sinus
I can understand what you did and it took some guts to do it

believe you me, it takes some doing to overcome tooth pain, only once did it get the better of me, and that meant an emergency extraction in the chair, not a pleaseant evening i can tell you.
alcohol works well, as does cold air!!! i think at one stage i could go through a pack of painkillers in a day!!!, its amazing what info you can get out of a pharmacist.
still.. never again no fears now, still dont like going to the dentists mind, but the worse they can do now, is take impressions

cant get it on nhs,,,
one place was quoting 1750 per tooth
although on reading, you only need a few to retain a plate, there is a another method whereby they use posts and o rings to retain the denture. pricing i dont know.
the only plate that gives me some minor issues is the lower. the upper did when i had it fitted. but the dentist i used then was superb, and made me a stainless steel one, it fits superbly, and copes with my deep bite.
the only thing i cant eat now is peanuts, which is a shame.

Personally I'd go for a couple of implants in the bottom jaw with studs if you have the cash and can cope with having implants fitted !!
Soooooooooooooo many advantages

saw that one too, not sure though.. it looks promising, would need to discuss further with the D.. mind you it would mean sitting in the chair and having work done, dont know whether i could cope with that

Tooth ache ??
Oil of gloves works every time, smells and tastes like a tomcat chucking up in your mouth, napalms any flesh covered bits that come into contact with it but boy does it sort out tooth ache !!!
best use a cotton bud to apply it because you don’t want to get it onto your finger !!!!
