Can't fault the police/mi5/6, they have to act on information given to them, what happens if they don't and hundreds of people die because they don't want to upset certain minorities by not doing anything?

I agree with it 100%

I do think they could have gone about it in a better way though.

It cant be too hard to verify the 'intelligence' though can it?

Bug the house....

tap the lines....

break in when nobody is there and scan for bomb making residues..

Should have a fairly good idea by then.

what did these guys do wrong?

or the poor chap they killed totally unnecessarily on the underground...

another 'intelligence' screw up

Not much sympathy for the innocent victims of the so-called intelligence?

I suppose the real question is: Who gave the Police the "specific intelligence" and what action is being taken against those individuals?

In a world where the people trying to kill you are indistiguishable from everyone else in the street, mistakes happen, get over it

We now live in a very different world than we did 5 years ago, the sooner people wake up to this the better.

As a muslim I feel the police must go on the info they get, but when they do get it wrong as they have in this case and some others; instead of justifying their actions they should accompany their statement with a public apology and I feel that would make a world of difference in the attitude towards the incident. The issue here I feel is the fact that none of the government ministers or other authorities ever admit that they got anything wrong, its always some one elses fault!

Oh come now Daisy! Don't be so bloody melodramatic, the world is full thankfully of level headed, fair and honest folk. Sure you will get the few crankpots hellbent on causing havoc to all and sundry but they are outnumbered even here on Snet. Some of the most intelligent, articulate and funny people can be found within the realms of this community OUR community. Now go have a brandy and chill!

2 things:

1. You don't seem to have a basic grasp of the British Law (innocent until proven guilty)

2. How long did the guy get to prove he was innocent before they shot him? Was there a trial?

Don't think you would have the same attitude/stance if you were at the harsh end of the stick.

If you really ARE innocent until you are proven guilty, how could anyone ever be arrested? The mere suspicion infringes the individual's rights.

No we dont. Nothing has changed from my point of view. I cannot understand all these ppl who won't fly anymore or won't go to London etc.

Things happen. If 9/11 had happened in a third world country then nobody would have given a toss.

Long term were more at risk from global warming than terrorists who have killed very few if you look at the big picture of things. The US has a lot to answer for.

Yeah terrible - next time the Police should wait until theyve carried out a bombing first, then arrest

I back their actions 100% - they have a difficult job, and are dealing with a very unco-operative lot remember, so they have to go on what info they can get - the community are hardly likely to tip-off the Police about terrorists.

I also feel sorry for the Police having to go in and arrest these people - they are up against people who have a different view on life to us - they arent afraid of dying in many cases.

And these people arrested may well not be innocent, its just they dont have enough evidence to charge them.
