I had a go with one a while ago.....
Sooooo much power, and it dragged me head first down the beach before ditching itself straight into a muddy pool on the beach
Think I'll stick to windsurfing tbh. It was pretty windy though - I should probably have tried a smaller one to begin with, but we didn't have one

Hello
I have seen someone wack themselves into a wall in Brighton whilst being dragged along by one. Quite amusing until I noticed he was really hurt and then went to help.

did this for a few years with board and then buggy....gave up as all my local fields banned buggies and then loads of beaches did as well - if you can find somewhere to do it its great fun but just flying the kite is a bit of a bore after a while - you need a bugy/board.
i had a flexifoil modded buggy, and 3 blade2's and a blade 9m for when it was calm.

I have a 4.8m pro kite and it can generate more than enough power to lift me 6-10ft off of the ground (im 6ft tall and 13st). Start off with the smaller kites and dont go out in high winds until you have some serious exp behind you as these things can get you into trouble very quickly! Stay away from the 'blades as they can tip you on your head and break your back (there was a guy on the flexifoil forums last year that broke his back/neck due to flying a large kite with not enough exp)! Kite killers are a must etc. 3m Radsail should be a nice safe starter kite.
Check out http://community.flexifoil.com there is a good mix of newbies and professional users on that forum, read through the threads etc to make sure you know what you are getting into!
Great fun though, and provides one hell of a workout! Im reasonably fit and after 15/20mins of static flying im completely knackered

A 3m radsail @ £30 isn't too bad (quite good if it's a PRO model) but tbh you will be bored of it in no time and will want something with a little more power.
A PKD Buster is a better first kite and there is one here for £50ono.
I have a Flexi Blade III 4m, 3m Buster, a 5m Flexi Viper and a board and as POC says it is a good laugh and a good workout.

im gonna sell my board just scares the **** outta me
Was watching a couple of pro kite surfers down in Cornwall last summer, amazing skills. Flying static is one thing, strapping a plank to yer feet and being dragged is quite another

I'm just ordering new lines for my 1.5 metre ram kite....... looney toons went and crossed the old lines and cut through them. Taking it (and him) away to Ireland next week.
