Day out to Edinburgh
I've got a meeting in Selkirk on Monday so have decided to travel to Edinbugh a day earlier to have a looksie.
Would anyone care to recommend some things to do and places to go.
To be honest I'm after decent places to drink and somewhere nice to eat.
I get there at 1pm Sunday.
Als could anyone recommend reasonable accomodation near to Princes Street.
Cheers in advance
Esh

Have you considered Google?

FWIW I love the city - but given that I know nothing of your budget or taste I shan't recommend.

Basically, stick to old town . . See the Castle . .Hang out around the Royal mile . .
Don't forget the port of Leith, the Royal Yacht Brittania, and the lovely fish restaurants. . .
Enjoy!

If you are looking for eats then i'd recommend one of the following:-
Italian: Prego, St Mary's Street
Chinese: New Edinburgh Rendezvous, Queensferry Street
Indian: Cavalry Club, Shandwick Place
Steakhouse: Buffallo grill, Bristo Sq (BYOB!)
As for bars, there's plenty to be found (it is Scotland!). Just avoid the dross on Rose Street.
Edited to say that all the restaurants are central and walkable from Princes Street

As for Bars, went to this old converted bank "The Dome" which was alright, full of after work suits talking too loudly but some good eye candy.

For £60 a head you can spend a day with Saxo Boy where I will entertain you with 80s DVDs, feed you a McDonalds and take you and your missus for runs in an S2000. If you are that way inclined we can use the car for *******
.....alternatively you could go to a few places in town and enjoy food and drink with a view of the castle
