Don't know about much about the bar scene but my Mum has lived out there for over 15 years.
There's a lot of organised crime types out there (dodgy Brits and even dodgier Africans) and they're pretty easy to stumble across without you realising at first.
For example, my Mum got a job with a small insurance agency out there, which after many shenanigans ended up with the owners "disappearing" and the new owner was a well known crim. My Mum left when she realised there was some serious money laundering going on.
Don't let that put you off, just don't get involved with anyone whose main business is timeshare

i go to tenerfife quite a lot and as long as the bar is in the little complex where linkers, yates etc are it will do well. The other side of the road is dead normally for quite a lot of the year.

Ahhhh, Tenerife! Had my first ever Lads Holiday there!
First tried weed in tenerife!
Definately one of the best hol's i've ever had! Bit of a **** hole in many parts though, and crime is rife. Mates got mugged and smacked in the mouth on the beach. Also get offered drugs every 2 minutes walking down the strip!
and dont get me started on the PR's!
I heard the authorities had had enough and closed loads of the bars down?? and that only the bigger places like Bobby's/Bussby's and tramps were left?

Yes I have fond memories of Tenerife but dont think I would want to go back there now. Recently returned from Lanzarote and having a family and being older now means that the sort of place I need to be, its really nice, same weather just alot quieter, cleaner, No PRs, not even any looky looky men on the beach either.

Id either go for los christianos or maybe out on the amarilla golf/golf del sur.
Other than that its mostly spanishy everywhere else, but las americas has its fair share of shady people, i was there for 9 months in 04, my mate owns the yates/spoons/wigan pier bits, and i get the feeling there is one or two guys that have a big hand in the pie....
lovely chicas to ogle at, and plenty of sunshine....

Los Chris is more relaxed, but close enought 'to' L.A for the Hard-core clubber/drinker etc.. been to Tenerife loads of times over the Years, theres some lovely bars etc at the far end of L.A. .such as 'Garfields'. but Agreed on the Los Chris area.. place down there called 'Pims' .. excellent food, good sevice too.

linekars followed by the space bungee ball guaranteed to make you puke. playa da la Americas seemed a bit seedy when I was out there lots of pretty lovely dirty prostitutes used to hang around outside of the front of our hotel. and the looky buy Africans were everywhere in town.
One of the bars we went to was on sky one a while ago after a huge fight broke out in there, the Brit that owned it was a mean looking ******.
