Default Nokia N80- wireless connection

Hi,

Received my N80 today and all looks to working Ok. Will take some getting used to as there are loads of functions compared to my old phone .

I can connect to the web via the orange server then switch to an available wireless connection (e.g. my home network). How do I connect to the web without going through the orange server - can this be done?

Cheers

Not used the N70 but it turns on as quick as my 6230 (I believe this to a complaint with the 70 series) - the internet connection via my broadband wireless is lightening fast

not an expert on the N70, but I hooked up my 6230 via infrared and bluetooth...would have though the 70 will work the same.

no, the n70 doesn't have wifi like the N80. the N80 is an entirely different and far more capable phone.

sti-04 - apologies, thought you wanted to hook the N70 upto the N80. Adam M is obviously a better reader than me!

All sorted. can be done by....

1) find WLAN and add to access point list via Connection > available WLAN (select what you find) > options > define access point.

2) Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points

3) Set the default access point under Services > Options > Settings > Access Point. NB you don't need to be connecte do the server to do this

Orange told me that N80s weren't available until July as there were so many bugs with them.

not sure about the bugs but I have one in my hand - direct from Orange and all appears to be working Ok - just taking a little getting used to.

It's taking me a bit of time to get used to the functionality of the phone - I am not particularly technically minded though!

Phones a decent size for what it can do and still feels like a phone (which is pretty important for me).

Can't really fault it - as good as it gets at the moment.

From what I have read it does not at the moment. It will have a decent screen for it when capability is available though.

It's very brick like, mines been crashing and freezing reguarly and the battery life is terrible.

I'll give it the weekend and see if it grows on me, otherwise it's gonna get the 14 day return treatment.
