Ok i'll set the scene:

Trafficlight junction about to join a main road. To get onto the main rd is a sharp but wide left hand bend..

i'm sat there minding my own business, my mother was in the passenger seat, we were on our way home from a shopping trip so the boot was full of stuff, my mother is a nervous passenger at the best of times so i was being very good. Alongside comes an mx-5 with a right poser in the drivers seat the hood was down and he has an attractive blonde in the passenger seat.

I glanced across and then looked back at the lights, i noticed he was eyeing up the scoob but looked unsure as to what the hell it is. Ah well i thought given the circumstances/my frame of mind i couldn't be bothered to play.

The mx-5 edged forwards over the white line. I glanced back and he was looking really focused on the lights, i'm wasn't even holding the steering wheel. The lights changed and i pulled away slowly he was off like a scared rabbit and then he had to turn left. I could see in his rear view mirror he seemed to look slightly worried and then it happened. He turned in the backend went round to the right he caught it - just, and then wildly fishtailed towards the n/s kerb. He missed it, again by fractions of an inch. By this point i could barely see through the tears that were streaming down my face as we reached the next set of lights. I sat behind him trying not to look but then my mother started laughing, i looked and there was this poor bloke getting a right old verbal battering from his better half the hands were flailing and he was covering up as the blows started raining down....

Sorry its so long and you probably had to be there but it made me laugh and i think its a lesson to us all..

If you are going to play do it in a safe place and well away from the other half.

Strange story. My first encounter with a scoob was in 1995. I was in........ you guessed it, an MX5. The guy was in the outside lane doing <limit and I was giving it 'farmer barsteward get the **** of the road so everyone else can have a go' Got to a roundabout where I thought .... ha i'll teach him a lesson. He was on the tight line, i was on the wide line, ended up with him grinning at me as I reversed up the kerb at a fair speed. Took me some more time to work out that Subara did not equal Daewoo

I didn't realise Mx-5s were that easy to get sideways, must take one for a test-drive one of these days!

Thumbs up

Matt - use a small amount of water - a teaspoon is usually enough. It isn't so much easy to gets sideways as easy to get entirely pear shaped. Once you get the hang of it it is deffo Mk 2 Escort territory without the engine rebuilds
