Default Kwik-fit morons

Needed some new pads last week (still do!). Called around and Kwik-fit said they could get me the pads I wanted in 2 days time, fitted for 119 quid. As time was short and if I ordered from Ebay or somewhere I might be waiting longer I agreed. They needed a deposit as they were "specialist pads" (not my view, they're only Mintex 1144's for an Elise).

Can I pay the deposit over the phone? sorry sir you'll have to make the trip into the branch. I make the trip into town. Took the bufoon behind the desk 15 long boring minutes just to work the 10 percent deposit out and give me a receipt. I specifically said I ONLY wanted Mintex 1144's and confirmed delivery would be 2 days.

Two days pass, no call from them. I call them up on day 4,

me: "where's my pads?".
bufoon: "I'll chase it up"

Now it's 2 further days and still no call, I call up this morning 9am and say I want a call back by 1 o'clock with a definite answer or my money back, bufoon : "no problem"

Now its 2 o'clock.

Call up the "national support line", talk to somebody that might have a grasp of intelligence, they duely call the branch and call me back saying that the pads had arrived 10 mins earlier and the manager didnt have time to call me.

Off I go down to Kwik-fit in my car with 95% worn front pads. Walk in the door, see a unipart box with Elise scrawled in ink on the front, not a good sign. Yes, I've waited nearly a week for a box of ****ty unipart brake pads costing circa 15 quid that were supposed to be Mintex 1144's delivered in 2 days.

I calmly asked for my money back and waited for the bufoon called Sonny to refund me.

Total ******* idiots.

Shouldn't the title be, only a moron uses quick fit?

Changing pads is so easy, do you really think a thick **** kwik fit fitter can do a job better than you?

Bunch of monkeys, couldnt you have rang a mintex supplier and ordered them over the net, couldnt be that hard, if you did it in the morning Id expect next day delivery cheaper than Kwik fit too.

Don't knock unipart pads. They may have come out the same factory (although in the case of mintex...porbably not)

But anyway, that's besides the point you should have got what asked for. You didn't, so let that be a lesson about using kwik-fit

In defense of KF - they seem to differ a lot from branch to branch, dont know if they are franchises ? or it just depends on the staff.

My local one sorted me out when someone ripped the valve out of my tyre - put a new valve in for free while I waited.

Called them a few weeks ago during a day off to get some front pads fitted to my Xantia.
"No problem, we have them in stock" they said. "Bring it down at 12:00 and we'll get it them fitted for you". Got there with only one other person waiting.... 1hr 50mins later job done. WTF!?

Total stitch up merchants!

I had an old run around a few years ago - 205 diesel. The brakes suffered a 50% failure. One side of a split system. So, as it was local I took it to K.F. left the car with them for a quote (I'm not too green eh). They rang back later to tell me I needed ...........

a new master cylinder
new servo
1 new front caliper
1 new rear brake cylinder
2 front discs
rear shoes
front pads
Oh and 3 new tyres.

Yeah, yeah, now tell me how much to just get it going. No, we'll only do all or nothing. I went and collected the car, tooka copy of their printed and signed quote for £800 of work for a £600 car!!! I left and found out that it was a 15p O ring in the master cylinder that was leaking. Problem sorted.

I did ring the K.F. customer service line at head office and explained that they had tried it on with the wrong person and I was going to Watchdog, trading standards etc. The guy shat himself then said that the discs were under minimum thickness - I told him what they were as I'd used a micrometer! This time I thik he really did **** himself.

Unfortunatley Imoved house about 2 weeks later and I lost their quote otherwise I'd have dragged them kicking and screaming over hot coals.

Barstewards.

Used to have one near me with a good manager, he did the work himself, let you watch, always price matched, wiped the wheels over with a rag and cleaner, never charged for punctures, fitted numerous different back boxes for a drink.

Totally dependant on the staff working there, like most business's I suppose.

I had the exact opposite of a Kwik-Fit experience in the States once.
I had a rental car, and it picked up a nail in the tyre (or maybe it was the tire) in Santa Monica. Steered onto the forecourt of a tyre place on the last little bit of air, owner come out and checks it over. Tyre repaired straight away, at which point I asked for the bill.

'No charge sir'.

He knew I'd never be back, he knew it wasn't my car, he knew I was a tourist, but he simply wouldn't charge me.

If they did Kwik-Fit over there I'd imagine it would need at least a new exhaust...
