Guys,

Anone purchase a new batchroom from B&Q and got them to do the install.

Do they do tiling, electrics etc?

Basically I want a one stop shop, old bathroom removed, retiled, new bathroom fitted, some lights installed etc.

Will they be able to do this?

Electrics may be an issue, whoever you choose they will need to be part P qualified to do anything but the most basic stuff, IIRC they may even need to be part p for any bathroom, kitchen or exterior electrical work short of changing a bulb.

We bought a B&Q bathroom and I fitted it, did the plumbing, tiling etc. Wasn't hard. I don't know, but I would suspect B&Q will sub-contract anyway.

I would guess Band Q would charge you £2000 to fit the bathroom and ask another company to do it for £1200 or something... Its the way they work.

I fitted and tiled my own, fairly easy if your prepared to put the effort it (novice DIYer here too)

IMHO B & Q bathrooms are utter ****e, I would steer well of them if I were you.

I wouldn't put one in a B&B, but for an occasional bathroom, if well fitted they are just fine.

Had no problems with ours, threw out the legs that it was supposed to stand on and built a solid frame instead. Can quite happily get 2 people in it at the same time and it doesn't so much as creak. A well fitted cheap bathroom suite looks better than a badly fitted expensive one!

Possibly a bit harsh, but when you buy cheap and unbranded, don't be surprised when you get a less than perfect products.

But if installed well, these can be acceptable.

However the B&Q installers do not have a good reputation in the trade, plus on top of the actual install cost you pay a big lump to B&Q. The flip side is that if there is a problem you have a big company to complain too.
Best advise is to try to get a reccomended indipendant fitter to do the work, recommendations will mean they are probably good as they rely apon further recommends to get their work, I should know

What I want is one person who will do all - simple.
I go to him, tell him what I want, pay them, they fit and do it properly, then I'm happy.
More importantly the missus is happy!
I don't want the hassle of buy from him, get tiles from yer man, get yer man's mate to tile, and get yer man's mates mate to do whatever's left if you see what I mean.

Don't want a bath, just a shower, sink and a ****ter installed.
Want the walls & floor tiled, a wooden roof removed, replastered if necessary and some nice lights fitted.
And a towel rail too.

B&Q do all these items, they offer a fitting service and I just hope they do all I need.
I have an appointment will a B&Q showroom person (whatever they're called) soon.
The stuff I've been looking at certainly isn't unbranded either.

Mog fitted my B&Q shower, amongst other things and said he'd never do another. I had to get the manufacturers out in the end to replace the badly made door. It's been great ever since mind.

Depending what sort of bathroom suite you are looking for you can get a very good quality one for less than B+Q.

I bought a suite from ebay and for the money it was the dogs. Its been in a year and the quality is brill. The equivalent B+Q suite is big and cheap looking for about the same brass.
