Lightbulb divorce - full disclosure

I presume there are people on here been through divorce...
looking for some advice, not legal... about what the opposition solicitor will
come up with after the full and frank disclosure, in negotiating settlement.

We do not intend to fight tooth an nail btw, as it is all amicable.
Just don't want too many suprises, otherwise i will have to employ a solicitor of my own.

If anyone can offer advice on any stunts the solicitor may pull or any advice in general, pm me if you like, to save any arguments in the thread.

and yea, i know everyone will recommend I should have gone to a solicitor
first off.
cheers

Who do you think will have had the most exposure to the tactics of opposition solicitors and be best placed to advise you?

If the disclosure has been submitted by both parties and nothing is contested, either way, then you should be able to see what you are going to come away with, anyway.

It's only if your ex is likely to disagree with amounts disclosed that you will be challenged.

You need to be very careful with divorce lawyers. There's a strong chance that they'll try to convice your wife she's being screwed over, in order to drag things out. If you get one too, there's even more chance of it happening. Learn as much as you can about the process and laws. There are probably some forums somewhere on the internet dedicated to it!

Get a solicitor, pronto. Is there any kids involved??
Things may get nasty, they may not, but you must look after yourself and your future, especially your pension, for what it's worth

If its all amicable, then there shouldn't be any problems.

Disclosure is generally a time when both parties have to come together and "disclose" any documents they may be using as evidence to support their case. There are strict guidelines about things like this - a sort of you must do this then, that by then & so on. Its just one more of the proceedures.

In your case, that won't be a problem as it is amicable, so nothing to worry about.

If her solicitor does do something weird and you are unsure, just don't agree to it. Nothing will be legally binding unless a judge endorses it and if you find yourself getting screwed over, get legal advice and go from there.

However, I must say that rather than getting advice from here & the fact that you are a bit unsure, then you are better off getting proper representation.

Don't be worried about getting turned over by solicitors either - they will try and do what they think is best for you but you are the client and they will only do what you tell them to. They have Codes Of Practice to adhere to.

If solicitors get involved.... you can forget the word amicable.
All IMHO of course, but that's what happened with mine.

Get a solicitor ASAP..Friend of mine had an "amicable divorce!..She has come back to haunt him with big cash demands, and she is well within her rights to because he didnt get a final settlement agreement,or something like that.

Looks like its gonna cost him £20k,and she originally dicked him for way over the odds on the original settlement..

Listen and learn mate

Good luck

if the divorce is uncontested, then no dirty laundry is disclosed.. if contested, then your fetish for green wellies full of salad cram will become public knowledge

my ex didnt agree with the divorce, but didnt contest it.

What about 'hidden' money .... say only in one partners name??

Is this what needs to be disclosed or can you keep it as it's in your name??

Just interested?
