Latest unbelievable government incompetence.
It's an almost daily occurance now. What is it this time?
No – not the disintegration of the NHS, or the squandering of 2Bn of taxpayers' money on overpayment of tax credits.
This time it's the turn of the dangerously inept 'wingnut' Clarke who has “apologised for the release of more than 1,000 foreign prisoners who should have been deported at the end of their sentence.”
There were also 41 burglars, 20 drug importers, 54 convicted of assault and 27 of indecent assault.
Great!! All these people are now at large in our communities and nobody knows where they are or what they are now up to.
But – will Clarke resign?? Will he hell <cvnt>

Among the offenders, five had been convicted of committing sex offences on children, seven had served time for other sex offences, 57 for violent offences and two for manslaughter.

Great!
Just ******* great, Clarke has apologised has he, well thats ok then.
Clarke should be arrested for incompetance not that he will as there is no accountability or ownership of problems with NL.
I am sure he has President Tony's full support.
The thing is we the voters and tax payers will foot the bill along with suffer the consequences if these animals commit more crimes. It is not right.

Besides a typical Paulr post - dodged passing comments on some pretty serious ****-ups by his NL heros by going for a typical cheap shot - how NL is that then

Total disgrace - Labour allows the country to be flooded with immigrants - many of whom dont respect the laws of the land, and dont even speak the lingo - then the ones who commit serious crimes are locked up at tax payers expense, then released back into society - many straight back onto benefits no doubt
How much longer is stuff like this going to go on for? Ive noticed recently an increasing number of threads on all forums about people who are seriously concerned about the level of immigrants in the country now - time for the government to get tough on these b@stards

In connection with this has the following or something similar been uttered yet, "Of course this is why we want an ID card system to be implemented as soon as possible".
Funny how such events occur, like the Police claims of massive fake passport scams.
One might think there was a script.

In fairness to Charles this started under Blunketts prediscessor and through Blunkett's reign - seven years but apparently 764 where released during Clarkes tenure, He is unwilling to admit to knowing about the problem which came to light in August 2005 and even then 200+ got released after the problem was spotted and Clarke made aware but only after a lot of hastle and effort by Tory MP Richard Bacon (not the tv presenter) - what the **** was Clarke on - the HO and prison services both flagged up problems sometime back and now Clarke blames them.
Newsflash Clarke - you are the boss, they work for you you are ultimately responsible!
It is a disgrace TBH. He is paid by the taxpayer to protect the taxpayer from crime and criminals and illegals and what is he doing, releasing them back into the community.
It is almost funny if it was not so serious
Charles Clarke - you should be ashamed of yourself, you have let everybody in this country down.
The best thing you could do is resign and alologise and let someone capable of doing the job, do the job!
It is far to important to be left to weak minded fools and the incapable.

Time for Clarke and 2 Jags heads to roll - Labour's dark days are numbers I think - "crash" Gordon must be a bit annoyed tho, after expecting to take the driving seat from Bliar.
I notice PSLewis and Suresh have gone very quiet on the frequent threads discussing Labour incompetance recently?... maybe even they cant still up for the party now after so many scandals.

It is just pathetic isn't it.
Come on Labour fans tell me i am wrong, tell me he is doing a great job, tell me he is the right man for the job. Tell me letting all of these criminals out was a mistake and not a problem. Tell me it is not his fault as Home Sectretary.
Oh and apparently 14,000 people wrok for the Home Office - 550 in HR alone - perhaps they would be better employed do something else like keeping track of the illegal criminals, that would be around two each to supervise and deport!
I am all ears!

I preferred it when Captain Birdseye was just screwing up our education system.

Maybe there's an internal Gummint league table of which department can make the biggest screw up? It's a tight call between the HO and HMRC this week...

At the end of the day though, the choice the British public were presented with was akin to asking: would you rather be hit by a bus or a train!!
Which ever runs you over is probably going to back up and tell you that it didn't hurt as much as you think it does. Just that NL will also claim that it wasn't their fault!!!

I voted for Labour for their first term this time around as i thought they could make a difference.
I then voted Tory for the next two elections as it was clear Labour was not up to the job nor had the learned from the Tory's mistakes.
I do not know anyone who voted Labour last time around
I do not think that many would admit to it anyway.
Not sure what else i can do, oh yes i remember move to a different country!

Hasn't he apologised now but said it is best he does not resign. He needs to sort out the mess
So with Prescott saying the bonking is over now, lets get on.Tony backing him fully.NHS going caput and London voting BNP
Only need to find Ruth Kelly is really Roderick Kelly and there is a chance Teflon Tony might finally have a bit of egg on his face.
So come on Cameron you big girl.Stop licking icebergs and seize the moment.Actually, forget it.Fall off a crevass

Yet again avoiding the issue, me voting Labour has had an big effect on you - i am flattered.
At least i have the ***** to admit it, no big deal really but i realised my mistake early on and change my vote, sadly the sheep and weak willed did not so NL stay in power.
However i am in a position to do something about it, i am getting out of the UK until things get better, if they do not then chances are i will not return.

Cool
I am not sure what it will take to remove this NL blott on the landscape TBH. I am hoping some party will stand out head and shoulders above the rest wiith good, sensible, common sense, put the decent people first policies but this is not happening, Cameron is out there hugging seals and icebergs and Lib Dims are just background musak. BNP seem to be scoring points off of NL and the other parties' inability to differnciate themsleves from NL policies and put people first.
That imho is a crying shame for us all!

I'd like to hear what Nick Griffin has to say about the Home Office bungling.

Paulr,
Let me offer you some advice in a spirit of helpfulness and friendliness.
I think you should sit down, even if that might be physically difficult for you in this situation, and think about the best way to extract your head from your own ****!
