Default Can sandstone be repaired ?

Well can it ??

My old uncles has a big house that from the outside needs a bit of work to the sandstone. Can this be repaired ??

He is a bit concerned that being in his 90's that some people will try to rip him off so i am trying to find as much information as possible.

Anything will be good.

Cheers

Stephen

alot of modern "sandstone" now is some pre-cast resin based sandstone substitute...so I would say yes

Yes it can, but you need a mason. Masons are few a far between; skilled craftsmen. Virtually all 'builders' simply wont be up to it although I doubt theyll realise it.

See some of it was replaced years ago & its clearly visible. Do you think there is away of masking it so to speak so it all looks the same ??

Until he came back for a year my little brother was working on the Sydney Cathedral restoration. Thats made out of sandstone too (although a quite hardy type) and Im afraid that theres no way of disguising the new masonry. No matter how highly skilled the masons work it will always look new. With builders 'newness' is the least of your worries though!

After the repairs you could clean all of the masonry; itll blend perfectly then too.
