Outdoor clothing?
I'm in the market for a lightweight-ish waterproof and windproof jacket for the summer.
Any recommendations? I'm not amazing fussed too much about brands as long as it looks ok for wearing out-and-about.
Touching three figures is about the budget for me, as it's not going to be used up-hill and down-dale etc.

Agree with Jack - I have a 17s Jacket from Howies and for the money it is outstanding.
Waterproof, well-designed, taped seams, breathable, excellent.
Indeed get yourself a merino mid-layer as well and you will be set for the summer.

Cheers for the replies all. I'll have a spy round see what I can find.
Despite the banter, a Nike Dri-Fit wouldn't be out of the question...

Arc'teryx are for posers Great kit, but mega-expensive
I wouldn't go spending fortunes even if you are seriously into outdoor persuits as gear can get damaged pretty easily. I bought a £300 RAB jacket and managed to stick my ice axe through it 2 days into a 30-day mountaineering trip. To say I was pi$$ed was an understatement...but I've a nice scar to prove how hard I am I also find the RAB gear wears pretty quickly. I've had better luck with Berghaus, Lowe Alpine and Mountain Equipment. That seems to last more than a few months climbing. Patagonia gear impressed me after seeing it used extensively in Alaska on a trip last summer.
If you're not into serious outdoor stuff, then get something cheap and cheerful. Most of the name-brand stuff look pretty shocking as far as fashion goes. Great for on a mountain where no ****** can see you (unless you need rescuing and your bright yellow jacket will come in handy) or for posing in the bar after a hard days climb
You can pick up a waterproof North face jacket for about £60.
http://www.theoutdoorshop.com/Outdoo...language=en-GB is about the cheapest place I've found for kit. They also do good discounts if you're a member of one of the British mountaineering councils.

One of the Go Outdoor / CCC shops is worth a visit:

They have some cracking deals at times.

I picked up a Montaine Super Fly jacket made from eVENT fabric in a sale for £99 a short while back.
Lightweight, taped seams and zips, and more breathable than goretex.
