Another nasty neighbour thread!
Hello,
I have a right bunch of to$$ers as next door neighbours, not worth going into too much detail, but simply think they own the bloody road because they have been there for 30 years plus.
They have no respect for other peoples property, dump their rubbish outside my house on bin night, use the shared accessway as a permanent car park, leave one part of their fence encroaching on my property, while another part of it they rebuilt and basically knocked the timbers into my wall, without so much as a 'by your leave'!
They are complete ignorant tw@ts and I want to have nothing to do with them, quite frankly. I feel sure that they enjoy winding people up so I do not want to rise to it.
However, my level of anger is gradually building up and I intend to do something about it.
I know they had a dispute with their other neighbour, who has since moved away, that became legal, apparently. I believe this was over the shared accessway, but was before my time on this road.
I have tried to look online for court cases and legal disputes, for our road, but cannot seem to find anything.
Is there an easier way to look this sort of thing up?
I am hesitant about legal action as I believe that you have to declare these things when selling a property, so don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face.
However, I really dont want to let them get away with these things. I have asked them about a couple of these points and all I get is aggro. I need to do some serious homework and preparation before tackling them again. Any discussion over the fence issue will escalate and I want as many cards up my sleeve as possible.
If I have to go to Court I will, but want to avoid this as much as possible.
TIA.
Asif

Yep, I vote for moving too mate!
As far as disclosure to the potential buyer regarding legal problems, I think you have to disclose any issue if asked directly. So if they asked you what the neighbours are like, you can't say it's like living next to the Waltons and you get on famously, legal battles or not!
It's a sad state of affairs, and in principle you should stand up to them, but they obviously don't care, and the law will only set your boundaries clearly and stop them blocking access, all the other **** I imagine they could come up with won't be worth that small victory........

Our reletively recent neighbours are avid party goes and come holiday week they get their mates in and generally make a load of noise in the small hours in the morning.
So, I've been trying out my technics amp on the following morning. They woke up to some Pearl Jam yesterday morning
Today it is Chemical Brothers....nice thumping beat for the hangovers
Yep, I'm a nasty neighbour
Now all I need is to sort out the other ***** who insists on parking his car in the road (when nobody else does - as there is a covenant against it) when he has an ample sized driveway - jus the he's idiotically blocked it off with one of those sheds that people drag round for their holidays (again against the covenant, I believe) - He could fit all vehicles on the drive including the if he put the caravan on the other side of the drive....but noooo, that would block his view out the lounge! So he parks so it block his other neighbour's view instead- nice
But I don't complain....I have teh nighbourhood watch busybody on his back over this

Hi
Did you buy your house?
If so - did the previous owners disclose the dispute they had with the neighbours?
If not - you may be able to sue them
Cheers
Steve

Thanks for all replies.
Moving house is the number one priority.
However, I am currently still in a tie in period with my mortgage, where fees are, in my view, quite steep to pay off early. I can take the mortgage with me, but that limits my choice of move. All in all, not a viable option right now.
Further, although I do not want to rise to any bait they dangle in front of me, I also don't want to appear to be 'soft' or 'scared', when they are behaving in this way. I want to keep things civilised and courteous, as I have other people in my house to consider, but also require a modicum of respect from my neighbours.
In summary, I need as quiet a life as possible, but to send a message that they should behave themselves, or else.
To answer Steve's question, the dispute was with the another neighbour, not the previous occupant of my house, plus, I think the law about disclosure is fairly recent, so would not have applied in this case?
What I really need is to be able to look up the legal dispute between my two neighbours, that I would find really useful right now. Any suggestions?
Even if I choose to do nothing I would have felt I had got it off my chest a little.
Thanks again.
