Get a Hard Disk DVD recorder with guide plus, i have a phillips one with 80GB HD and the guide plus is like the sky menu, you just choose the programmes to record up to 2 weeks in advance, you can also burn them to DVD if you want as well,SKY+ can't do that and no subs to pay either.

Two things to watch out for (apart from not being to watch HD telly on them!).
1) The refresh time. Current generation screens refresh at 8 milliseconds.
Anything 16m/s or over will result in blurred images when watching things like footie.
2) Contrast levels. Older generation screens cannot do blacks very well - they only do dark greys.
Compare anything you look at to the Sony Bravia range which are pretty much the benchmark at the moment.
You pays your money etc!

Was looking at the Sony Bravia range - looks good. AT this point we are looking more at room ergonomics than cost of stuff. If I can't get a 1 box does it all solution, - can you get something that you can put your sky+, DVD, surround amp etc (DVD jukebox maybe ) in the utility room and control the heap from a single remote control in the cinema room.... erm wife says that is living room.
