Decorating
Currently doing the hall stairs and landing, is there anything that makes you lose the will to live as much as doing gloss paint, Emulsioning isnt to bad but Gloss, jesus, it gets everywhere no matter how careful you are and it fookin stinks.
Have to say though, it looks a lot better than it did and the dog hasnt collided with it yet .
Any decorating anecdotes to share ?

Other than opening a window when painting, I have heard the following. Not sure how effect this is as I haven't done it myself, but apparently when you've been painting, try leaving a dish of bicarbonate of soda in the room overnight.. it's supposed to eliminate the paint smells..

You misjudge me, its pro standard but a stinky messy process where I end up glossed as well !

Err, cos at the moment I have leave to take and am too tight to spend the money, also to be honest the 'pros' we have had in previously dont do it as well as I do, I dont begrudge a decorator a living at all, its tough work but having leave left its worth me doing it and unless we get a real pro in (not many about) they generally are a bit slap happy (the ones we have had) and cut corners like not rubbing down properly. Its difficult, time consuming and demands concentration and accuracy hence why the missus cant do it !

Move to Nottm and you can get us in
So I'm off in 15mins to go to work....
Hanging 'LINCRUSTA' (£120 a roll) again today... got 22 rolls of the stuff to do... and so far Two of us, Thursday we Hung 4 lengths and Friday we hund 3 (theses are FULL 18' stair case drops!)

The gf got the keys to her new house on thurs. Since then i've.....ripped all the old carpets out, stripped the floors in two rooms, filled all the holes in every room and prepped all the walls for painting, cleaned the whole place top to bottom and nearly finished painting the lounge. I love decorating

Done all that for myself recently, oh and one other, Coving!
Coving is the biggest nightmare in the world. Considering I have never decorated before and just followed the instructions on the pack of plaster coving - I am surprised that 3 weeks on they still hold fast to the ceiling and walls.
If you do any coving, get a mitre block - oh yeah and only buy a house that have 90 degree corners and square rooms!
I cut mine in by eye lol, I wear glasses - enough said.

where we're working at the mo.. putting LINCRUSTA up... the coving been fitted buy some muppets out the yellow pages!!!... we only looked at it and it was coming down!!
In the end some of ithad to be removed because the plaster skim on the walls started to blow off when we lined the walls.
We then found out the coving was only held up by 3" long, thin nails (not even galvenised!) and caulk mastic!!!!! OMG!!!!
the cove had never seen cove adhesive!
we have now re fitted the cove we removed! and its all safe now!.. and the angles filled properly!
jacko.. we have fitted 9 lengths of LINCRUSTA today.. as they were either 7' long or 18" long above the door reveals LOL
Back tomorrow though on another 18 foot drop

this is Lincrusta.. about £120 a roll.
18' drop!
make shift paste table.. the one in the middle is specially for 52" wide papers.. but not long enought to accommedate 18' lengths! lol
the specal paste for lincrusta comes in one litre tins!! sohad to put about 8 tins in a bigger bucket so it made it easier.
