Trawl? Go to Cancer Research Uk, enter "travel insurance" into the search box on the home page and there's full page on it, including specialist insurers to contact if needed:

Hmm, tough one, we had to get insurance for my Father in Law, he isnt ill but as he is 70 the cost goes up, especially when I had to pay in case he went skiing, would have been a lot less if he said he wasnt going to, he didnt ski as we all knew he wouldnt.

Dont we have the E111 (or something) agreement with Spain and if you get the forms any EU citizen is covered across the EU, i.e. any problems and she will get treatment ?

It is particularly annoying to think your poor mum want to go on a last holiday and daft obstacles like this are put in her way yet every pregnant or ill migrant gets decent care the minute they set foot here and rarely pay a penny.

There is also the say nowt thing, one way or another she will get sorted and dispatched home ?

If its too much of a problem to go abroad, perhaps look at this website,

http://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/

They have some superb properties all over the uk, interesting buildings in
some lovely locations, we stayed in one called pond cottage in Devon, fantastic location, nothing to detract, moroways or airports etc, depends whenther she would like peace and quiet or a bit more in the way of bustle ?

bollox to hollibobs in this country..............we want sand sea and the other word ......SUN

anyway i get lost in this country

ive had a quick look and it looks like i will be paying over £3000 for single trip cover to spain

i can take out insurance that has no medical cover but that seems a bit risky. i think the E111 has changed to something else now....

i think if we change our name to Boris Strogonov or something we might be ok if we. why do you get penalised if you are british

With the E111 you now get a card when you fill out the form, just saves you filling it out for each trip. That'll cover you.

Remember that holiday insurance is rarely valid anyway as all policies state they don't cover you when you're under the influence of alcohol. I don't know about anyone else but I tend to be under the influence frequently on holiday

Information on the E111 replacement direct from the horse's mouth.
The one big difference between this kind of "social" cover and private travel insurance is that it won't cover repatriation to the UK by (air) ambulance.

Sara, please dont take this the wrong way, but why bother with insurance,

for the known condition, you would either get no cover, or heavily penalised, which isnt fair to say the least.

far from me to suggest anything naughty, if your mum had insurance and used it and the insurance co got humpy, whats the worst they could do?? they would do themselves no favours persuing a seriously ill person over a claim.

i,d buy it and go, whats more important? your mums happiness, or some faceless company who, would use any tactic not to pay even if you were fit and able.

I had a lump appear in my neck (cancer) S*IT myself and cried for an hour. Insurance £4300 for a 2 week holiday to USA. No one interested. I got insurance but had to have a letter from the Hospital stating the type of Cancer. Everything insured now normal price but not the Cancer noted. Been clear for a year now, was clear for 45 years before that. ???

I was about to suggest the exact same thing. if your only going for a week or two just dont bother at all. no point in wasting several grand imo.

i rang insurance yesterday and was told that it would be £3000 insurance for a week in Majorca

i also asked about 2 weeks cover for kenya but it was referred back to the insurares so i said forget it.
i did think about not using medical cover and read the e111 stuff.after all my mum has been on loads of holidays and not known she had cancer and as the doctor said she is very well and healthy. both lungs are working properly

if the worst comes to the worst and mum needed to be ambulanced home then we would have to pay for it. insurance excluding medical cover was £70. i think thats what we will do

as for kenya maybe that was being too ambitious at this time

thanks again

E111 is no longer valid and has been replaced by an EHIC (European health insurance card)
