Due my phone upgrade next week
Just wondered what anyone has got recently and been happy with?
I currently have a W800i, would rather stay with Sony/Nokia, but would consider all brands.
Requirements:
Good Camera
Good memory
Bluetooth
Has to look nice
Oh and i need to make calls from i too

Nokia N70, had it 3 months now, 2 mega pixel camera, large memory which you can increase with different mmc, easy to use.
Downloading pictures, videos ect. to your pc is easy too, must be if I can do it.
Dont think you can go wrong with a Nokia

Just upgraded mine from a Samsung D500, which i was thoroughly impressed with except for the not so good camera and small memory.
Looked at the V3i and D600 but thought i'd try the V3i as it has expandable memory and a reasonable camera.. Within an hour i'd decided it was poo and was sending if back..
Got the D600 (originally didnt as i thought i'd try something different) and am now a happy bunny again..
2 Megapixel Camera,
Expandable memory
Bluetooth
MP3 player
Looks good (IMO)
I used to be a 'Has to be a Nokia' person but after the D500 i was converted, and the D600 is even better..
Only downside i've found is the battery life isnt as good as Nokias'. Lasts about 3 days for me..
Get one to try, you get the 14 day 'cooling off' period so can send it back if you dont like it..

Very easy to use, the screen may be slightly smaller than a dedicated GPS unit but I only really listen to the voice anyway.. TomTom Mobile review here
No idea on cost, I didn't pay for mine.........

I have a 6230i which I'm really pleased with, it takes MMC memory cards, so with a Gb or 2 you have a reasonable mp3 player.
However the wife has a D600 which I'm rather jealous of...(not sure how big the tranflash memory cards go for it though)

I didnt list Tom Tom in my initial list of requirements, it is now number 1.
I was going to purchase a stand alone Tom Tom anyway, so if i can have both in one go then all the better.
Has anyone got any experience of the N70 with it?

I don't have any direct experiance with it on the N70, but a quick google seems to indicate it being buggy and freezing.
My N70 thought it was in an Ice Age it froze so much.
I think to get full Euro Street Mapping onto the N70 would be some going, for that you may be better off with a PDA style phone.
The 02 Exec looks rather nice.

I dont think i could live with a PDA day to day, to bulky in the pocket etc.
Would it be possible to buy maybe a used one, and have a pay as you go chip in it, or do these need to run on contract?
Also when using say Tom Tom on a phone, are you charged for the time on it or is it one off?
Cheers

Consider an SPV maybe. I hate Nokia phones personally so would never have one but some of the older ones will run TT fine. 6600 etc.
You could get an old handset and stick a PAYG SIM in just so it's active. use that for your GPS and have another handset as your phone is you so wished.

i cant belive the imate/o2 phones never took off.
i had one of the first XDAs and now an Imate jam (badged by O2 as an XDA mini).....it runs all my pc apps, my vast client data base is on it (and links nicely to the phone app so i have well over 1000 numbers i can call in seconds), i have xl spread sheets, loads of music......most stuff you get on a pc in fact! (plus a phone!)

You are not charged for using TomTom...
Alot of the initial problems with TomTom on the N70 appeared to be down to the Bluetooth GPS receiver type ( BT77 I believe )
If anything it is a little tempremental on the Orange network, however this is easily cured by removing the POI ( Points of interest )

Had my Nokia 6280 just under a week now, it seems ok, takes memory cards, 2mp camera, all the usual stuff, 3G etc....
Its a touch bigger than the g/fs D600 but feels nicer imo.
