I want to take the missus away for a european break this spring but I need your help...
I havent been abroad for 17 years and that was on a school trip so I have no idea where's best... I've asked most of my friends but we have different ideas about where is best...
I want somewhere warm (but not too hot), 4* quality, and a city which embraces tourism and so accepts those of us who cant speak the local lingo too well...
Any ideas welcome and links to hotels which you can recommend would be excellent...

When do you want to go because not many places will be warm this time of year in Europe....
Brussels
Amsterdam ( theres more than just the sex shops)
Prague
Barcelona
Paris
Rome
Dublin
just do a search on expedia.co.uk and you should find a good range of hotels giving a map of where they are etc.

If you want places that speak your lingo, not sure if Paris is good.
But you can always shout "Vive le CPE!" if you want things to liven up a bit
BTW if you want somewhere warm in springtime, I wouldn't go to Brussels or Amsterdam, you've as much chance of nice weather as in London. Like, maybe 18C, and maybe 4C.

Barcelona, Rome and Venice are all good suggestions for this time of year, and the latter 2 you definitely don't need to worry too much about the language.
Barcelona does have a reputation for bag-snatching, so be particularly careful in La Ramblas. But it also has so much on offer, and these far outweigh the risks. Like jasey said above, if you worry too much about this kind of thing, you'd never open your front door.
