Ebay question...

Ebay question...
Just been looking through and came across something a bit odd. There's an item for sale on there that's worth a lot of money, prob talking 20-25k's worth of money, and the guy's stuck in on with a 99p starting bid but here's the thing... no reserve.
Now what happens in the situation where say this guy's forgotten to put the reserve on and it ends up being won ridiculously cheap by somebody. Does he still have to sell? Is there something in there that says if you receive a winning bid you have to sell the item? Just wondering what kind of protection there is in this situation. The guys profile all seems genuine too, 100% feedback etc.

It might say somewhere that its advertised elsewhere so he reserves the right to canx it at any time, which he will do once he see's his mistake or he may see his mistake and withdraw it giving some dodgy reason.

Yup there's no mention that it's advertised elsewhere but I guess he could pull it anytime yes.
What if he doesn't see his error and someone makes a successful bid though? Is he obliged to sell it at that point or could he still disappear?!
I'm going to have to keep a watchful eye on it...!

Hmmm, give us a clue, Dan, please!
He doesn't have to sell it. You don't have to do anything!
Post the link and I'll give you a more informed opinion!

i now sell most items on ebay with no reserve and a £1 start price - i then invite offers...people email me with an offer and i pull it off ebay when sold.
ebay dont allow it but considering the crap that goes on there i dont care...i avoid retard scammers and i pay hardly any fees.
if i forgot and the sale completed for £1 i would just email the buyer and tell them the item was broken.....its a tuff world!

It's actually worth more than I thought - worth a good 30k I'd say!
I reckon it's advertised elsewhere though and will be pulled or if it goes too cheap he just won't sell.

Or what he will do is put in a bid on another ID he has set up ( you can normally spot these as they are 0 feedback and only joined Ebay after the auction started - very common in motors section ) - for say £26K if thats the minimum he wants - if someone outbids him, then fine he sells to them, if not, after the auction he will say they both mutually agreed not to go ahead and get his final fees back.
He can then relist for a couple of pence, and do the whole thing again.

say is this advertised else where?
he may not know its worth, that much, & you get a bargain..
But he also could be a checky person & have a freind bid on it aswell to bump up the price.

It will probably get quite high anyway, but if not I doubt he'd sell it for very little if it came to it.

It's done 95k miles in 9 months - might have something to do with the low price. Also over 4 days left to run - plenty of time to get a decent price.

A 10,500 miles a month average just didn't equate!!!

The lad I work with lives in Fishguard. He thinks its a dealer who specialises in BMWs as he bought his from there.
Whatever happens knowing Pembrokeshire people, you will not be getting that car at a cheap price - they'll charge you £5 to see the £2 in their pocket round these parts
