Who could it have been?
A black Saab 9-3 2.0T going down the M20 very fast with 3 middle aged blokes in it. I was just overtaking it when I realised they were all dressed in black and holding walkie talkies (not police radios, these were proper wireless walkie talkies) and decided very quickly to pull back in behind them The one in the back was looking at me as I pulled along side which is when I spotted him chatting on his walkie talkie and am bloody glad bikes don't have front number plates! They had pulled in to the middle lane to let me overtake but didn't slow down, they were really booting it
CID? Armed police before being geared up, they had no flak jackets on? Some kind of military unit? If any type special police unit do they give two hoots about being overtaken by a bike on the motorway? They didn't appear to care but wondered if I had blasted past if they would have reported my registration number and would it have had any legal standing?

why would they give a toss about you on your bike?
prob a group of middle managment leisure centre staff on their way back from a trade fair playing with the new radios they just bought for their lifeguards round their swimming pool.

They were also very confident in the speed they were doing, never slowed at junctions or for bridges where mobile speed cameras normally lurk, it seemed as though they were exempt from the speed limit. The look I got from the bloke in the back was if to say "are you taking the p!ss" type of look as I went to go past.
Even if they weren't plain clothed police I am just interested to know if CID or other police units do report you or even stop you if you break the speed limit or is it only traffic division that can pull you on the motorway?

I've been in that situation before! I overtook a BMW at 150mph on the autobahn looked over at the 2 blokes in the BM and saw they had headsets on and were looking at me as I passed them, thought oh foooook and slowed down then realised sod it I am on the autobahn and floored it again, passed em again and disappeared into the distance

the other thing you are on about is the DCCT trainer, used to be called the SAT Trainer, like a big video game.
They do usually have Range rovers etc for op's, but on training they ahve a huge stock of cars that have been compromised in operations etc and can generally use them for anything.

Given radios and suspicion of bikes. CP Anti Terrorist guys or the like probably. I would think.
The car was a dark non descript 4dr saloon that would blend in on a motorway which may also be an indication of this.
Also being driven in controled manner.
Not interested in you unless you get in their way or are a perceived threat.

Maybe the new PC Blues Brothers have replaced the potentially cancer causing cigarettes and the shades, which could cause you to have a motor accident, with the more UK friendly survilence equipment.
