Default Wembley roof collapses

Well part of it anyway....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4824448.stm

Its a real joke this now, if it was being built in Germany it would have been finished a year ago now.

They probably went for the cheapest contract so are getting the cheapest quality goods. Sometimes you get what you pay for.....

....and this bodes well for all the new stadiums due for the 2012 Olympics????

I was really chuffed when we won the Olympic bid but my first concern was whether we could build the stadiums on time/on budget. What an embarrisment infront of the whole world.

It does make you wonder why the Germans can and do build their buildings on time and on budget. Why the **** cant the British, virtually every big project you hear about is late and vastly over budget. The British maybe have some of the best designers in the world, but are absolutley useless when asked to transfer it from paper(CAD) to reality.

Same whinge, different country. The Sydney Olympics was surrounded by controversy and whingeing about facilities being on time so there is nothing unique about Wembley Stadium other than the fact that people believe it only happens in this country. Multiplex may be the common denominator though...

Its because the attitude of the germans is different to ours and they work alot less hours than us.

Germans pride themselves on working hard and effieciently and take the utmost pride in their. Not too many brits are really like that.

And now with the drains failing maybe we'll still have the FA cup in Cardiff in 2007

The main contractor is an Australian company, not British.
