CRM - Customer Relationship Management.
Anyone got a good hold on this subject? I'm after some information/pointers as to where the sales force fits into the above for a thesis I'm doing and it's doing my head in.
Googlers need not apply.
Cheers in advance.

If you have any more specific questions I might be able to help... otherwise it would be a vvvvvv long reply

Whilst many IT apps / ERP companies have a CRM offering, it's not a silver bullet.....
CRM is much more than the IT solution in place to support processes in CRM. (as is most of the processes in a business).

My old job we used to use SalesLogix...
How do Sales fit in? They open an account, and recieve a commission payment based on how much they trade after 8 weeks (by which time the account has to be 'handed over' to an account manager, otherwise commission is forfeited). The Sales person still collects commission based upon trade for a further 18 weeks so still has an 'interest' in the account (i.e. if they stop trading, commission stops!). Then after six months the account is in the hands of the Account Manager (part of the 'CRM' function).
Business was parcel distribution btw...
Hope thats some help.

You don't usually use the words Microsoft and Customer Relationship in the same line
So what does it do? Once you have sold your customer a product it hassles them to buy a new improved product on a daily basis?

I really haven't got a clue what it does,
We deliver learndirect training and I think it keeps all the client data on there and links into LearnDirect & UFi
??? I just know it's causing issues for the developers

Companies expected so much from CRM but like any other technology, if you have crap processes and poorly trained people, you'll end up spending a lot of money automating garbage - like the company I work for did.
There's loads of white papers available from the vendors (which'll be biased) or from the analysts like Gartner, Meta and the like.
Cheers
