Having never done it before I don't know if this is a good deal......however for a no stress move I think it's as cheap as chips

We paid about £450 a couple of years ago, including all the packaging etc. But we only moved about 40 miles and it all fitted in a 7.5 tonner - I was stunned.

£700 is about right if everything is packed up for you and covered by insurance too Took our lot less than 3 hours to pack up the flat and get in the truck. We did the computer stuff and packed up underwear as I didn't like the idea of some random bloke going through that!!!!

I've had a few quotes on a 4 bed house / 80 mile move, the best from "real" firms are ~£500, the worst are ~£2000. Check quotes from reallymoving.com.
Admittedly, I've already started packing up all the non day to day loose stuff myself, so reducing the amount of packing they'll have to do.

Worth getting professionals and make sure they have decent insurance. If you move yourself and scratch a £500 display cabinet or stack it badly in the lorry and cause damage theres your saving up the swanny.
My dad used to have a removal business.Best job ever was taking a grand piano from the top of a 3 storey house.6 people,4 hours. Not one single scratch.

Got a quote form through from one firm today - they have all the rooms in your house listed with typical furniture items for you to tick/ mark how many so they can give you a quote. Eg Dining Room - Table, Chairs etc. Bedroom - Beds, Drawers, Wardrobes etc.
Under 'Attic' they had 'Exercise Machine'
Sounds like the voice of experience!
