Internatinal Womens day!
WTF is all that about??
I have just been told by a female collegue at work that she has been given a box of chocolates by some of her Romanian staff. When I probed her as to why, she said it is international womens day!! I said wtf is international womens day and she said no idea but they celebrate it in Romania, I said so not very international then and she said who cares I got a box of chocoloates out of it
So my quwstion is, does anyone else know about this? and WTF do we need another womens day, isn't Mothers day, Valentines day and all the womens days enough that they need to invent another one so that the poor down trodden male has to shell out more dough on his bird to show he loves her!!! Isn't the fact that he is still with you enough why do you need constant reminding and gifts?????

It's a national holiday in various countries, usually ex-Soviet.
Some emancipated women refuse to celebrate it, as it reinforces the notion that they can only be special for one day of the year and gives their hypocritical wife-beating husbands an excuse for crap behaviour for the other 364 days. Many Russian men will go and buy flowers for their wives and tell them they love them dearly, whilst waiting for her to cook an extra special meal tonight
