Are there no penalties to deter criminals anymore?

Does not really matter what the crime is there doesn't seem to be anything sufficient to put someone off a life of crime.
You never pay fines, you only get a few years for murder and the system does its utmost to avoid any sort of jail sentence.
Really starting to grate now

Successive governments have been de-criminalising "real crime" while criminalising ordinary people.
Because they know that ordinary people will pay the fines etc.

Misses had her 06 plate keyed outside the house 2 days after she got it. Rang the Police for a crime number in case we decide to go through the insurance. Misses asked what would happen next, the reply "Nothing, it would just be left as an unsolved case".

Motorists are an easy target and pay fines because they must have money to run a car in the first place.
If you aren't a law abiding citizen, you won't bother taxing/insuring your car and if you're really clever, you'll have it registered at a fake address too so they can't find you for fining purposes.

Plod says "yeah, we'll send a car over". 1 hour later mate rings back to be told that they were too busy to send a car and they wouldn't be sending one either. Mate does all the bloody leg work and plod can't even be arsed to go and pick the guy up.

I'm on the Planet Real: the one where the police have a limited budget and manpower which doesn't even cover murders properly, never mind the thousands of acts of criminal damage where the villain simply won't get caught. If plod is round your house checking out where the vandals kicked in a fence panel (say) then they aren't detecting any crime which is actually detectable.
That said, I was rather surprised a couple of years ago when you Cambs feds turned up to view where my garage door frame had been smashed off the wall. But they couldn't do anything, so it was waste of both of our times.

me and my mate walked down the road and founf a white clio parked behind some bushes away from a house with a blue strip down the side and no body trim. We went to the ploice station and handed over the trim to the cute girl on the desk and told her what happened and where they could find the car that did the damage.
We left and went home, shortly after getting home we saw a panda car pass the house. then an hour later the cop knocked on the front door telling us that the ****** had admitted crashing into my car. At the time the my cop went to see the ****** there was already another cop from another station there interviewing the ****** about a different offence.
So if you are going to have your car dammaged make sure it is in lower earley as the cops there do actually follow up on public reports.
I made a full claim on the ******* insurance but it to them 18 months to finally cough up.

We have to face up to the fact that the PC Dictators now say that criminals only rob and kill people because of their background and upbringng. Even if they do know that they are doing wrong and breaking the law.
Its all really the fault of the victims just for being there and getting in their way!
What a way to run a railway!
