Default O2 pay-as-you-go SIM into a T-Mobile handset?

I've got an O2 PAYG phone, and Tesco has a great offer on a T-Mobile PAYG phone, can I just swap the SIMs or is it likely that the T-Mobile phone will be locked to the network?

Thanks for any advice ...

Easy enough to unlock but needs software and repair cable, your local independant mobile shop should be able to do it for you.

That's a fair price, considering the price of the equipment now.
