Out of work at 55?
My dad (now 55 years old) was made redundant some 18months ago and previously working in the IT industry as a Service delivery manager. Unfortunately he’s had no success retrieving an equivalent job opportunity and thus puts it down to age discrimination.
He's rapidly coming to the conclusion that there is no way back into this industry and is contemplating a different career route.
Does anyone have any useful suggestions for jobs which may be suitable for a 55 year old person who is very intelligent and practically skilled?
Thanks

I was made redundant from an IT service delivery job at 31. Took me about 3 months to work out that I was too old to try and get back in. The most important thing he needs to do is realise it is the ****test job in the world. If you can be any good as an IT service delivery manager, then you can be brilliant at loads of more enjoyable things

market himself as a IT Project manager...plenty of work in that market and lots of bad pm's out there so he will not have to do much to shine! Checkout www.Jobserve.com
Good Luck!
