We have two pc's at home, linked via a 3com hub. We have ADSL and use All Aboard to share the internet connection. I installed Norton Firewall and Antivirus on the connected machine and Norton Antivirus on the client machine at the weekend.

Problems -

When we first start up all seems well. Internet access ok, pages and images load.

Then pages load, but images get the 'small red cross'

Then more and more links get 'the page can not be displayed' at the top with text on the page displayed, but no images.

It then gets to the stage when nothing will open on either machine, not even scoobynet Just getting the 'page cannot be displayed'.

Bashing the F5 key to death sometimes makes the page/images display.

The problem remains even with the Norton stuff turned off

A reboot seems to cure the problem for a while

Any help would be good,

Cheers

David

I have a similar setup all machine running W2K though. After I installed Norton firewall the shared modem (no adsl) would not work on other computers via IE5, it was OK through Opera; I've since installed IE6 on all the computers and everything seem to be OK so far. A fair few dropped connections but that could be the ISP (Talkgas)

Dave,

I've had this problem since upgrading IE from V5 to V6. I had a play with some of the settings but I can't remember which ones now as I did make an improvement. It's still a problem but there doesn't seem to be much you can do about it to fix it completely.#

I'll pop round if you like and have a play and see if I can make it any better....

Let us know,

Matt

BTW Dave,

I've also got some tweaks for Norton Firewall which seems to make the reliability of loading pages on the new BBS better if you're interested......

Give us a call,

Matt
