Yeah theres a few of us the meet up on public servers when we can. I spent half an Hour chaisng BarryK round various servers just missing him each time I got on.

If you fancy joining us for one of the BW sessions I'm sure you'd be more than welcome. ususally we get about 8/9 people. So plenty of room

I guess STi need to decide if we are going to stay as friendly playing co-operative or try some matches

Although we've used some basic co-operation on maps like survivor it still tends to be a little like every man for themselves during the STi sessions.

Could we maybe arrange for one of our BW sessions to be a "match" against Matts Guys. There are enough of us now probably to make a team

Approached in a sense of extreme learning for us and pure target practice for them. Could be quite a laff. Matt do you use the voice-comms in 1.3 or ROger-Wilco or something else to co-ordinate. Do you have a team leader to direct the team during matches ?.

Oh and are you ever short of players for matches

trouble is we dont always get enough people for our sessions.

they've been getting less well attended its seems the past few weeks ? guess everyone is busy and has other stuff to do ?

because of this i've not really thought about matches ! even though 6-57 offered us a game a few weeks ago. we need more sessions with a good regular turnout so we can start doing strategy and then play matches ?

as part of this bazza and i looked into hiring a server from somewhere so we have our own 24/7 for whatever maps we want.

but gonna cost min £50 a month, maybe closer to £100 depending upon from who so we need people committed to paying as well as playing !!

matt : u have clan server or just use public ones like BW as we do ?

Yeap it true there are ways around Punkbuster but it's tricky. If it involves a bit of effort it usually puts off your "normal" cheater, after all the only reason they cheat is because they can't be bothered to practice to get good that way.

I would imagine a lot of the cheaters out there just "try" the cheats (especially the wall hack) and then get dependant on the edge it gives them

I've tried out many of the cheats cause one of our clan is a really good friend of Gooseman (the guy who wrote CS) and he helps him out with testing. He also has some debugging software which he runs in the background whilst playing. This shows up any irregularities in peoples configs (forward speed etc etc) as well as any scripts people are running (aimbot etc). The amount of times we've been in a match and this program of his goes made reporting ****e loads of conflicts. I've seen the log files and it's very revealing to say the least.
Unfortunately we can't submit this evidence because we shouldn't have access to this software and if Sierra found out outside sources had it, people would get dropped in the sh&t.

In answer to other peoples questions (made whilst I slowly typed out this reply, hence the edit)....

We don't have our own server as yet (way to expensive). You normally book a server for matches but practice is usually on a UK2 server.

I'd be more than happy to arrange a friendly between =TAG= & [STi].

Do you want to book a server? You will probably have the most difficulty finding a suitable time for everyone on your team?
Mondays and Thursdays are best for us.

Counterstrike now has inbuilt ommunications which we try to use. It seems to sometimes distort peoples voices though so we spend most of the time laughing at each other. If you are in a match you really do need voice comms. It takes far to long to type out messages.

For tactics, we usually split into 2 teams led by people chosen before the match starts.
To make it easier for the team to follow, the leaders pick 2 different skins and the troops pick all the same skin.

we try to but as deano said often end up chasing people around using gamepsy ! then the server suddenly fills up and you cant get on !!

tried to follow / join both Roadrunner and King Pin yesterday as well as Bazza and I trying to get on the same server via icq messages !

usually find some of us around on BW / Demon / Jolt / UK2 / NGUK if they ever upgrade to 1.3 !

My team are on a winning streak at the moment (well we won the last 2 )

The key to being able to win matches is team work. Getting the highest grag count isn't important. Something I think my team's just starting to work out.
It helps when you've practiced together a lot, develop strategies that you can use.
But then you probably know all of this anyways

One final tip. When you do join a league like Clanbase (www.clanbase.com) make sure you play on a server that's running PunkBuster. There are clans that cheat and cheat and then cheat some more.

I'd certainly be up for it. We've had some pretty good sessions lately. I think the one where double agent Bazza led us into the trap in the lift shaft we had about 8v8 for a while. I'm sure we could organise at least 8 of the regulars ?

In the mean-time we'll have to keep practicing

I'd recommend no more than a 6 vs 6 match. This avoids lag issues some people seem to experience.

Hello again all,

I've not been lurking the boards for a few weeks due to stag weekend (in Amsterdam ) and other assorted Best Man type duties along with hassle from the missus so my CS time has been limited.

But tonight, 'Norman returns' !! Psycho 3 !!

I'll be there hopefully for the full session, I've got my viocecomm working and Bazza says it's clear enough so I'll be spouting all sorts of excuses at you no doubt.

P.S I'm up for taking part in any matches that we can organise (did anything ever materialise re. the 6-57 crew ?)

well m8 we need to do more praccy b4 we are gonna be anything good enough to play 6-57.

we always started off this CS playing for fun.

if we wanna start doing matches and have a chance ! we need regular games to sort tactics on the various maps. not everyone has enough time i guess for that. and we can only book 4 hrs a week on a Barrysworld server.

we could do with out own server available 24/7 but its gonna cost £50-100 per month.

if anyone is interested in getting a server just for STi and contributing on a monthly basis post in this thread or ICQ / Mail me.
